No, you rename your Eevee. Pyro for Flareon, Sparky for Jalteon and Rainer for Vaporeon.

I think they debunked that.

It has been proven that renaming it controls the evolution though. :) If you have them after the first trainer to ever have one, you get that evolution. So...

  • Pyro for Flareon
  • Sparky for Jolten
  • Rainer for Vaporeon

Let's not rush them. Between the already-glitchy servers and PoodleCorp's (assuming it's really them) DDoSing, Pokemon Go is already having enough trouble with Kanto. XD

If you haven't done it yet, go Vaporeon first, he's fantastic at both defending and attacking gyms. Melts fire and rock pokemon, and hardly anyone has good grass or electric pokemon to take him down
