Why do trolls have all the power in this game?

Why is it that a single player can ruin your game, waste your time, hold your entire team hostage if they don't get their way... but if you just afk to not have to deal with it... YOU get punished?

What sort of backwards system is run this way? My last match I got a person who decided to go AP caitlyn as support. They did nothing but place traps and flame the adc. They didn't peel. Ward. Anything. Cait accomplished nothing, as the enemy was smart enough to simply AVOID the traps. She DID feed like crazy though and also dragged the adc down with them too when the enemy wisely decided to just 4 man gank bot every five minutes. Caitlyn did nothing but hide and flame the adc for "getting caught" when 4 people dove her under tower.

Oh, but make the mistake of saying anything to ANYONE in chat and BAM! You are now the target of EVERYONE. The enemy team thought it was quite hilarious and decided to ALSO verbally abuse the adc all match for DARING to ask them in chat to report the obviously trolling cait. God forbid that we report the person ruining people's games. No. Let's all flame, mock, insult and act like jerks to the person who says something. So the game finally ends after many, many failed ff attempts and the enemy has a good hard laugh. The adc gets reported, of course... and Cait gets to dance off to ruin other games as she pleases. JUSTICE.

Who the hell designed this system? The community is immature and AWFUL and I'm sick of seeing a pile of children all bully one person if he dares to say anything. The adc didn'y insult anyone. Said nothing offensive or degrading. No toxic names. No racial slurs. No anything. She made ONE request in /all that the enemy team report the troll for trolling. That was all it took to set these jerks off and then they went go OUT of their way to insult, belittle, mock and generally just act like spoiled brats to one person who had done nothing wrong. It's bullying and it's really, REALLY toxic and it happens in EVERY game. But the person who will be punished isn't them. No. It's never them. And yes, the adc in question was me. It changes nothing. 5 kids spend 40 minutes being toxic as they could because I asked them to report a troll. Then the troll AND probably those other jerks all reported me and... that's it. That's the end of the story.

So the option are, let cait troll you in silence, wasting your time and doing absolutely NOTHING about it.... or speak up and have the enemy all report you as WELL? This game is full of bullies and they have ALL The power. But are they punished? No. Their victims are for getting angry or saying something about it. Why the HELL is this allowed to happen?

How will riot punish them if they're not reported? It sounds dangerously like the answer is just "Bend over and take it, because trolls run this game".

riot has actually said it is reportable to ask for someone to be reported and is considered toxic behavior.

as i understand it their punishment system is based on the number of games someone is reported in. not the number of reports. so 1 report is exactly the same as 9.

the best thing you can do is keep your mouth shut and report after the game.

Kind of situational if the team mate is clearly trolling last pick sayd he goes sup picks jinx (thats not off meta suporting) thats just being a dick :p buys 6tears feeds takes smite just to folow jg and steal farm

stuff like that it should be alright to ask for a report or if hes constantly herassing with offensive language and stuff

but on avarage yeh asking for a report in general is a douche move i know that feeling when your really trying but rather its because of you or your team its just not working out you still try and stay possitive than douche bag top lane says report jg and your like oke why am i still trying

I have personally never seen a circumstance where a player was generally acting out against his teammates where the opponents team started attacking players that were just asking for a report after the game. That being said, I have also only seen people actively trying to ruin their teammates games in only a half dozen games or so in my 2.6k games played.

Most times people are calling out against a teammate it is just because they are playing poorly, which is NOT the same as intentionally feeding.

I don't know what to think when I see threads like this. I don't deal with trolls or intentional griefers in almost any of my games. I never feel the need to clamp down because talking might get me reported. In fact I never worry about getting reported at all and as far as I know no action has ever been taken against me. This goes for all of my friends that play league as well, and some of them are far more vocal than I am and often talk extensively with the enemy team.

You speak of systemic issues that are so prevalent throughout the league community that it is 'full of bullies and they have all the power' and ask why it is allowed to happen. My answer is simply that it doesn't.

Honestly I am surprised that Riot is pretty slow on bans, since this is a free to play game. Most others will ban people just for the sake of thinking rude since unless you paid in some form, you weren't worth the warnings.

While it isn't impossible to change your ip and get back in the game, most people wouldn't bother to go out of their way to figure it out just for a game. I can understand a bit of flaming, that comes naturally to competitive games, but trolling is pushing over the top. But alas Riot will do nothing since in their eyes, anythign they do can be taken advantage of said trolls so leave it as it is.

Thanks for a comment that wasn't a random, pointless insult. I don't know what could be done about it either, but it seemed like it worked a lot better before they axed the Tribunal. Now that everything is automated I see more and more trolls abusing the system to harass people, flame and get their way by threatening to afk. They know they won't be punished unless they say a naughty word. It's bullcrap.

Slow on bans? Nah. Generally when I go to ban someone (others on team are more than likely to report too), if you just give a description of what happened, that is 1-3 sentences they are banned within the next queue.

Honestly. Just ignore them (mute em). I'll use my last match as an example.

I dealt 120k dmg to enemy champs. that's 43k more than vayne, 100k more than the rest of the team. Yeh I was veigar, but all mao xin and and voli did was argue. I went 32/6 (should only have been 32/5, but I went yolo as we lost), and I'm just moving on learning from what I screwed up. Only time I talked was to call shots after team fights and pings to not engage. I could have lead the team better, even though I was.... So yeah trolls win the game, but once your good enough to win with the trolls it's a win win You just have to help the other three players out.

(Didn't place another 50000 wards even tho I placed the most on the team as mid laner with 19 54 minutes into a game).

Ok, now what is your advice for people who aren't able to go 32/6 in a game and carry even the heaviest of loads? Is the only hope to just pick whomever is considered OP right now and go ham? I hate most of the flavor of the month champs.

Nah, Wards win games. If your jg or support, literally cover dragon. If you guys have 3 wards each down + two pinks, you can literally cover every weak spot on the bot side of the map. Have your adc switch to a scrying upgraded trinket, and have him scan drag/weak spots when a ward just drops or something. It's crazy how well warded helps out games. It stops backdoors, it stops barons, it stops drags, it stops ganks.

Learning to not feed as your self, let the trolls feed, they give less gold each time they die. They won't have an influence really, and if anything they are causing a distraction which allows you to take control of other objectives. Before that 32/6 game, I was like 15/1 or something and all their tahm kench and udyr did once they realized I could 1 shot them with w was run around with mobis and deadmans plate. They just ran around the map, inside our own base, and distracted who ever they could. Everyone wants a easy kill, so they will chase. Their team however didn't shove top or bot lane while they were distracting our team, causing their deaths to not really be worth it. You can play the trolls game, and win. You just have to counter act what ever they are doing.

Seems a large % of the community doesn't really understand what " toxic " is. Riot is a bunch of goofs, I've been playing this game for 5 years, and this is my first season ever getting diamond, but it's also the first season I've gotten banned. There were a few games here and there during an extremely turbulent ranked series that I just lost my patience, and now all the years I've worked to get this far has been taken away, I'm not a toxic wing-nut, I'm a human being, I have thoughts and emotions. Trolls run this game, trolls cost me my rewards, it's sad really, and then you got Riot Lyte with his PhD in boneheadolgy whips out a derpy policy that ruins it even more
