Thoughts on Solving the Problem with Old Skin Splashes

If this should sound far-fetched feel free to make your own suggestions.

I've been skimming through the forums (I'm new here) and I found that there were quite a few players, like myself, who believe that there are characters and skins that require a splash art update. While I'm sure we don't mean to disregard the effort put into creating the splashes, they are just not up to par with newer splashes.

For the most part, players seem to suggest using the Chinese LoL splash arts. This idea, however, seems to be unpopular with some other players. So instead, why not have some of our community's own artists create splashes in formal contests? The community will vote and select finalists that the Riot team would pick as a new official splash.

Probably never going to happen due to the legal issues. Technically Riot will be making money off of player created content if it actually goes into the game, even temporarily. Even if Riot were to ask the artist to sign away all the rights to the art, they would have no guarantee that no part of the art was copied/stolen from another source. It's just a giant can of worms that riot will not approach.

It's why the game designers avoid the fan made champion design forums and why they removed the reward of designing your own champ with enough friend referrals.

I know several people who would squeal with joy if that were a, quote on quote, "Thing". I believe that many of the new splash arts are made by people in the community (That may need verification. I'm not certain about that) but a contest of sorts would really bring out the creativity in artists. It would also bring a wider range of artists into the community, and bring a wider array of artworks to choose from when selecting new splash arts. I like this idea. 1-up.

This is a cool idea, and would also help get some starving artists some recognition.
