Allow Us to Purchase Keys With IP

I mean chests are supposed to represent skill, or be an alternative to self mystery gifting, but as I see it, keys can be extremely hard to get. Allowing us to buy keys with enough IP would basically have the same effect as the "play enough games and win and get a key fragment". The only difference is that we don't have to rely on riot handing out keys.

The whole point of hextech crafting is to reward playing the game anyways, so why not just couple it with also being able to buy keys with IP?

they would never do this because RP sales would drop off significantly.

believe it or not, the game is actually starting to haemorrhage money in some regions from its unsustainable esports model and crazy operational costs.

How do you know that is true? where did you get your facts? Having people buy keys through rp is better to market the league brand...Support your favorite game, or dont play it...

This is a dumb question but ill answer it anyways. Simply put, the best way to market your brand is money... Buying keys wih rp means that youve paid for the rp, and it helps riot, maybe in a small way but with everyone else chipping in, it supports riots efforts to market their brand! Support the game, its a good one!

League already advertises extremely well through esports. I dont understand how giving away free skins will help them make more money....

We do support the game, and we do that by buying and spending RP.

This a must on every level I think how the system works is that each month after every game their is a 25% chance to get a fragment, then their is a 20% chance, then so forth and so forth, I think it caps at a .01% chance for a key fragment each game that resets every month They made it so you could buy blue essense with IP so you could ACTUALLY get masteries lvl 6 and 7 buying Keys with IP (perhaps 2600 IP, or 3400 IP would be reasonable)

True, however I really still feel blue ess should be removed all together for mastery crafting. It's just irrelevant farming to get the IP to get the shard to break it down...

^ Also it takes like one day to get all of the mastery shards which is stupid. I think it should be something more long- term instead of paying 7000IP to show you play a champion a lot

How would they make money of it then? You really think they added crafting because they are good people? They added it for profit like every game that has similar system with keys.

True but I do think that was very kind of Riot to add it compared to the way it was before. And it's not pure greedy profit either because, I've (and countless others) gotten quite a handful of skins I paid nothing for.

That's true, but I know dozens of people who wasted 100's of Euros on them, and that was their primary goal, also it tempts people to buy them, with the lower key fragment drop rate after each one and when you get something good there's a high possibility of you buying RP to get more, that's how most of them boxes work in any game.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying. But that's the players fault, not Riot's. In a game that's pay2win I can understand this point of view, but this is literally just a cosmetic thing and if people can't handle their own finances.. well, I just don't see how people can blame the company.

It is greedy, it's basically the same business model that casinos use. The intent is for people to spend hundreds of dollars on chest for hextech annie or get a skin that they want or whatever, it's not so you can get a free skin shard every 2 weeks

So, I'm supposed to sit here with the 10+ skins I've gotten (two are legendary) completely free and say Riot is being greedy? I honestly would feel a bit self entitled if I felt that way.

It's a cosmetic thing that is also offered for free if you just keep playing the game like you always did anyways. If people can't handle their finances because they can't stop buying cosmetic things then that's really the fault of the customer.

it's not the 10 skins you got for free that matters it's the thousands of dollars spent on the boxes.The whole point is to take advantage of people who can't handle their finances, not the people who can.I appreciate the free skins but if you think that's the reasons that the boxes are there you are an idiot.

I can handle my finances well enough and I buy keys/boxes anyway unless I load RP to get a specific skin/bundle etc. Sometimes I just have an extra 10 or 20 bucks to drop and I drop it on boxes. I used to drop it on swapping mystery gifts with friends, but not many of my friends still play this game/put money on it.

I'm happy enough to get anything free from the hextech crafting. What you're asking is literally for Riot to throw away money when you can already get so much free stuff already. I've gotten already like 10 FREE skins since it came out... The restriction on the keys is set in place to encourage RP sales.

We know that, but it would be a nice tribute to players that have been around long enough to have surpluses of IP.... I currently have 83k in the bank and nothing to spend it on...

I honestly think the tribute to long time players is already decent. I'm one of them too, I've got around 300k atm. Had almost 400k but blew lots of it on the chromas that I bought for IP when I could. I've also used plenty if IP to buy the skin shards to get essence for my champ mastery on various champs too.

LOL no. All games that give you "free" chests require you to earn the key or buy the key. So league should be no different. You already got the chest for free you're not gonna open it for free. You have to work for that part.

This game doesn't have to be like "all other games". Do you really want 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 different variations of the same exact game? Do you want LoL to be World of Warcraft, no, then don't say it should be like every other game.

You already misspoke, because they do give away free content when they give you the keys and the boxes... so... I'm just saying that IP could be a substitute for "playing enough games to get free keys"

lol no. Unlocking them with IP takes away much much more from them. People would just use the IP to get the key once they have the chest, at least playing games takes awhile to get enough for a key.

Exactly, you have to play to get IP... you could say the same thing about getting enough IP... so at least it takes awhile to get enough for a key...

They could charge 1.5k IP (or more) for a key... which is roughly 17 games 50% winrate. Assuming you get no keys that would be 2+games every night (assuming first win of the day) to unlock the weekly box you get.

Yeah as if that's much of ANYHTING for people like me that own all champions/runes and have well over 50k IP currently. So again, no they should never make them available for ip or I could have an unlimted amount.

So you get an unlimited amount of keys, good job, now buy the box.

Honestly the counter argument is that by making the box combo 70 RP cheaper ,by allowing someone to buy a key with IP, could actually boost their box sale.

Riot needs money, chests are an appeal to humanity's impatience. We get free things, but we can't wait to earn them. So we buy riots keys, helping them, but they are helping us as well.

I have around 50+ dollars worth of free skins, I'm not going to complain just because I have ten unopened chests.
