Why does Riot bother with reworking champions if they just nerf them back into unviability?
Wouldn't it just make more sense to keep these champions unviable than to constantly waste resources tweaking and retooling them?

It probably has a lot to do with the complaints from the community about certain champs OR the feedback they are getting from Pro's and what not. I agree tho....its kinda irritating, but this game is constantly changing and they must be attempting to keep "those champs" relevant. I just find it comical when a champ gets a huge buff because of all the whining AND then it gets nerf'd because of the same reason. Sometimes this community makes me laugh xD
Cleaning up code, bringing models up to date, making kits interactive or fun, etc. The purpose of reworks aren't to make champions OP.
Ryze gets reworked. Works great! Nerfed over the next 3-4 patches.
Sona gets reworked. Works great! Nerfed over the next 1-2 patches.
Fiora gets reworked. Works terrible! Better buff her. Oh shit, buffed too much. Nerfed over 2-3 patches.
Gangplank gets reworked. Works great! Nerfed for the next half a year with more nerfs constantly being applied to more and more he still proves to be able to win.
Darius, Mordekaiser, Skarner & Garen all get reworked. Only to get collectively and systematically nerfed at one point or another every single patch since the Juggernauts patch.
So why bother reworking Gangplank to have a cool new barrel mechanic if you're just going to nerf said barrels into oblivion until people stop using them?
Why bother reworking Darius at all if you're just going to nerf all of his abilities to the point where he does almost no damage and now his slows aren't effective at all?
