https://www.change.org/p/riot-games-create-a-new-iron-league-for-ranked-play-below-bronze

Bronze League has for years been the bottom 32% of League players in ranked play. Many players have been plagued by this League by the rampant, persistent Ragers/Trolls/AFK's/Feeders forcing players that normally wouldn't belong in Bronze to stay there by constant losses that are of no fault of their own.

Likewise, there are a number of players who simply cannot keep up with the level of competition that is presented in Bronze. Due to the fact that there is a high concentration of players that are "stuck" in Bronze despite being quality players and the levels of pervasive "smurfing" of higher elo players making new accounts just to climb the ladder again, players who normally "should" be in Bronze are pushed even further down the ladder to Bronze V for eternity because they are always paired with opponents far superior to themselves despite being in the same League.

This petition is to request Riot Games to create a NEW tier of ranked play. We have tentatively called this "Iron League". But any number of substitutions have been suggested over the years such as "Coal" "Wood" "Onyx" "Copper" "Tin" or "Lead" tiers.

The distinction isn't important. The point is that there is a large number of players who simply cannot keep up with the higher quality players that are stuck in the same tier and the smurfs who cheat the system and further punish players lesser than themselves.

This Iron League would help solve a number of problems currently faced by Bronze Tier players. As it stands right now there is still way too wide a margin of skill between even players in Bronze V. A suggested placement for this league would split Bronze Tier from being the Top 68-100% to instead having Bronze consist of the Top 68-89% and have the Iron League consist of the Top 90-100% of players.

Riot Games has already shown that the League Tier system is not unchangeable. As just this past season we've had the inclusion of a new "Master Tier" between Diamond and Challenger to create an even more exclusive pool of the best of the best.

We believe it's time we do the same for the lower tier players of Ranked Play. If you agree, sign this petition and help us in the creation of a new League Tier System that is fair for everyone.

"Coal" "Wood" "Onyx" "Copper" "Tin" or "Lead"

All of these need to be Tiers.

The Fat Punisher4/12/2015, 7:06:56 PM17 votes

Yeah really.

I constantly get opponents who know all to well what they are doing. When i was bronze 5 i had to lane with this wukong who has 85 cs in 10 minutes and went 20-0. His mechanics were so good multiple people claimed he was hacking.

clearly when one guy is taking objectives, farming, and pushing for 4 other people but remains in Bronze 5. there is something wrong here. He's supposed to be bad if hes in bronze 5..

It should definitely not be called anything other than a metal, to avoid it sounding insulting. It really wouldn't hurt to have another tier, but it should be impossible to get put there by placement; it should be only the people that consistently lost in Bronze.

Badges are nothing. What really decides where or who you play with is MMR which is a dynamic number.

If your MMR is 400, you'll be playing with other 400, 600 will play with 600, despite both being 'Bronze V'.

The problem with your idea is that adding an extra tier below bronze just means 32% of players shift down another tier. It would make absolutely 0 difference, since the bad players who are in the bottom of Bronze would just become the bad players who are in the bottom of wood/coal/iron/etc.

My only complaint to this system would be how demoralizing it would be to place into Iron. Or for that matter, to decay into it. No one wants to be Bronze, imagine a tier lower? On top of that, lowBronze would still widely be considered the "shit tier," with Iron being "the shittier shit"? I do hope I'm wrong about this, because you're right. Bronze is terribly unbalanced in skill, and makes up too big a percentange of players

Historically, Iron > Bronze

I like lead, because it's heavy, so it's hard to carry

Actually, I think it really would help if there were more low-level divisions. Something like 35% of all ranked players are bronze, with the next 35% in silver.

During preseason I qualified into Silver 4 and generally held my position. Games felt competitive and I was running about a 50% win rate, despite having a very good 67% win rate in normals. A month later after the reset, I got placed in Bronze 3 and immediately dropped all the way to bronze 5. Tactics that I could use in silver were completely useless in bronze because I couldn't trust my team mates to even know how to use their champ, let alone how to be useful.

The difference in play quality between silver and bronze is astonishing. It is almost impossible to get a good lane partner bottom. And it is a guarantee that at least one player in the game will feed hard. It is not a question of if you get a feeder, but how many and on which team. Players consistently shove their lanes without regard to their vulnerability or warding. Speaking of which, It is almost impossible to get people to ward at all, never mind consistently. I've had games where I've had to buy sightstone as the ADC because my support literally refused even after I not only asked him to, but also after getting ganked by the jungler 3 or 4 times. I often end up dropping more wards than my entire team combined.

In Bronze you can literally go 20-0 and still lose the game because the rest of your team is so utterly shit and beyond redemption, that they will just run out of base alone to go do "things" with the entire enemy team up and no visibility anywhere. Or they will all run one-at-a-time straight into the waiting jaws of a grouped and fed enemy team. Forget about map awareness. The map may as well not even exist in bronze.

Just killed both your bot lane opponents due to a nice gank? PUSH TURRET! Nevermind that Dragon is up, our mid Victor just got died to Rek'sai and Yasuo who are both now MIA (it wasn't pinged), and our level 4 Nasus is solo pushing top turret vs Irelia. What could possibly go wrong?

Just aced the enemy team with 3 survivors at level 12? Lets BARON! EXECUTED EXECUTED EXECUTED

Won a team fight? Give no quarter! Chase the bastards down! Katarina Sha-CHING! CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP-CHOP An ally has been slain! Enemy Triple kill!

And then there's that one guy that insists on diving 1v2/3 over and over again and then blames his team mates for not helping. Distracts them, and then leaves them.

"I am Flippy Beaar! Hear me roar!" Splat. "Kal, y u no help? Now their fed" "I'm level 4 with no items and no kills. Their level 6 with 3 kills and items. I need to farm." "Worst ADC NA. uninstall fgt." "I'm poor and behind because my support is always dead and I'm being forced to farm from behind turret while dodging Blitz and Graves. WTF you expect?" Level 6 Vi leaps out of the bushes and solo tower dives Kalista. An Ally has been Slain! "SHITFUCKCUNT KAL!!!!! KIL YURSELF!" Your tower has been destroyed! "FUCKU U COCKGOBLTRS NJOY YOU'RE LOSS" An ally has disconnected.

Who wins in bronze has more to do with which team is graced or cursed with extra good/bad players. And of course, with so many players at low MMR, the results are almost entirely random, meaning you are more likely than not to just go even.

I don't want to be carried. I hate that. I want to be a useful part of the team. Like anyone, sometimes I have a bad start and can recover if the game will only go long enough. Sometimes I'm having an even lane and then the entire enemy team rotates and crushes my lane because they're all fed. Sometimes I'm the one carrying. Honestly, games in bronze are so wildly inconsistent that its really not fun to play ranked.

The only thing consistent about bronze is the toxicity level.

What if onyx is my favorite pokemon?

I've long said we need an Iron League. Yes, it shifts the players who belong in Iron down. But the players who don't belong in Iron won't fall into Iron. The bottom 10% fall into Iron and the next 20% stay in Bronze.

Drukyul4/13/2015, 6:32:08 PM2 votes

You could just call it "Unranked" like it used to be back before Bronze was anyone who completed 10 games.

Space Bum4/13/2015, 8:04:48 PM2 votes

Been playing since 2010. Finished my first promos ever this past preseason got S5 after having 4 AFK games. The soft reset shipped me to bronze 3. Currently Bronze 2 (I don't really play ranked much still so I have not been climbing.). I'll just take this one example from my recent history but I'm sure I could dig up tons more: How did I go 3/0/6 vs a gold 5 Riven in a team builder game? Didn't even get Ganks for my lane. Im just a bad Bronzey and she should have crushed me. I've beat plats and diamonds in lane as well but I guess I'm where I should be.

Or Riot could host a training camp game mode where there are 6 people in each lobby. 2 of them are coaches who spectate their teams and tell them what they are doing incorrectly. Although I doubt people would take it seriously. They'd abuse it by trolling. But to be honest I'm Bronze 1 and my climbing experience wasn't as bad as people claim theirs to be.

But RuneScape taught me that iron is a tier above bronze.

Reikken4/13/2015, 9:31:30 AM2 votes

I don't even play ranked, or Summoner's Rift at all (dominion and treeline only), and I think this is an EXELLENT idea.

A Miss Fortune4/13/2015, 4:49:17 AM2 votes

I think the entire system itself needs to be revised. Powerful players in low tiers, weak players in higher tiers. The game doesn't properly show someone's skill and trying to get from a lower tier to a higher one can take weeks and even months.

PepSakdoek4/13/2015, 10:37:56 AM2 votes

The biggest problem (other than only having 5 signatures) is that iron in almost all aspects is a better metal than bronze.
