Just had a guy in my rank queue who claims he only knows how to ADC, of course which we all know he is just bluffing. And after the match ended, ending with a jungle Jax 2/7 and the picture below, I knew I had just experienced a near-death experience. O.o

As support, buy sightstone

If you're going to list that, you need to add "upgrade your trinket and buy a few wards during the game, no matter the role and especially if you're camped." If you're going to talk about ranked requirements, don't enforce the Bronze mentality of "it's the supports job to ward."

Seriously, I play adc often enough and buying one or two wards never impedes my build.

I agree with them all except the first one. I think learning at least 3 roles is sufficient, especially until you hit the higher elos.

Like, for me, I do bad with anything melee that isn't a bursty assassin (Akali, Katarina, etc). Support, ADC, and Mid are all I can say I know well, and I don't even play ADC all that much because I can't stand bad supports, seeing how support is what I started out as playing through levels 10+, so it's my most experienced role. It made me picky if I have to lane with a support.

To this day, I literally can't manage to do well as Jungle or Top lane.

As adc (who also mains support) I frequently find myself placing either the second most wards or the most wards on the map depending on how on the ball the support is. Sacrificing 250 gold to get an upgraded yellow trinket is absolutely worth it for what is effectively a mini-sightstone, and it can quickly pay for itself in the added cs it lets you get (by way of letting you push a lane deeper without risking ganks if you've warded appropriately).

I know the blue trinket is popular in pro land on adc's at least, but unless your team is thoroughly warding already, I'm inclined to push for upgraded yellow over blue for the safe csing potential it offers.

still cant jg after many ranked games. still can only play top as teemo or another ranged champ, melee sucks.

I even had a teammate who only played jinx, jg or something.

Learn 3 roles is enough.

yo BeatzBoyFTW, That Jax you're complaining about is Silver III (Summoner name: "Whitenitetourer" if anyone else wants to look at his match history) You're unranked this season, but what was your rank last season... let me guess... it was Silver III wasn't it? Sounds like he had every right to be in that game. Everyone has a bad game now and then. Also it looks like he's a great ADC. I agree its good idea to be good at all the roles, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the same right to play Ranked games.

I agree with most of this, disagree with some.

YES! Or at least have played all 5 roles, have at least one champ who can play each role and understand the roles position in the comp if you can't play it. I have told friends that my goal is 3 champs on my main role (whichever I decide, I haven't yet) and then 2 each on the other 4 before I try ranked.

You can get to level 30 in about 200 games if you are using XP boosts. From what I can tell that's not enough experience to be ready for ranked matches. I'd recommend at least 200 wins before trying ranked games and preferably 300. (so I'm not close)

Yes, please! I know I'm terrible at this because I tend to tunnel vision during the laning phase and worry just about the champ I'm facing, but its vital. I'm trying very hard to get into the habit of warding early and often. But I've been working with a new player and talking to him about how warding can help save his life.

Yes. Especially if you want to run top or mid. Pings that the enemy is missing make a huge difference for your teammates as they are reminded to check the mini-map. Personally I think that map awareness is everyone's job but reminders help a ton.

There is an old and very true saying "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything." This should be the first thing on any player's mind before they type something in chat. I've read far too many "this X is fed." or "Stoopid Noob" comments that don't help anyone.

If you are talking about using smite over the wall of the pit to try for a "steal", that is not always possible, but it is good to understand that it is a usable trick. Personally I'd rather my jungler be good at controlling the dragon and organizing attempts to take it by helping suppress the other teams bot lane.

Or if you are going to go off-meta be good enough at the champ and have enough CC to be an effective support. I've seen Mundo and Trundle both be extremely effective when played by a player who understood how to use them in a supporting role.

when someone claims they can only play one role i generally do my best to take it away from them. especially if i check their op.gg and they aren't very good in it.

Learn to keep a close eye on your mini-map.

It might also be worth looking at getting runes and making sure you're using all your masteries before starting Ranked. I admit, my rune pages and masteries are not complete, but I just play bot games and the occasional ARAM. In a competitive environment though, you need all the help you can get.
