Tell Me Your League of Legends War Stories

You know what? I have fun playing League of Legends, win or lose. Most every game I see something unexpectedly hilarious or stupid or epic or even meaningful occur because of playing with the rest of the unpredictable players in the game when all of of their missteps and moments of clarity come together.

I want to hear about the best moments that you have had. Of all time, in the recent past, whatever.

Tell me about the moments where random events came together to create something that made you laugh. Did you manage to get that Baron last hit with a Singed auto-attack? Did your enemy Kog'Maw pull off a pentakill on your team 1 second before their Nexus exploded?

Was there a time where you overcame great frustration to pull out the win? Did you mediate between a raging Tryndamere and Ezreal to come to a settlement on what you were going to do that suddenly allowed you to close out a game falling apart (and of course silently report half your team and Alt-F4 as soon as the Victory screen dropped)?

Tell me about the moments where you felt you pulled off something amazing you didn't know you had in you Is there anything more satisfying than picking multiple dashing champions off of the ground with a Nami bubble...and actually having predicted it for once?

Did you have a loss that was more bitterly hilarious than a win could have been? Did your friend pull off a 4 man solo Absolute Zero kill on the enemy team as Nunu while you were playing 4v5 and proceed to nearly make the enemy surrender twice even with a man down?

Do you have some long-winded story about a league game that made you think a little bit about life and other people in general? I do, but I'm not going to make this introduction post even more unwieldy. I want to hear yours.

Tell me about the best moments. Tell me about the games you will remember for a long time

The one ranked game that made me realise I had the potential to be better than a gold 5 player (I'm diamond now). I was playing Ahri mid, team was getting destroyed. Game was like 0-10 at 10 mins, everyone calling for a surrender. I killed my lane opponent 1v1, then I roamed and got some kills and assists. I decided not to surrender and told my duo partner to trust me, every time someone called for a surrender vote it would go 3-2. After some good plays we try to do baron but our jungler gets executed and baron is stolen, we almost get aced. I get away and have to defend base 1v3 + baron buff, I thought it was lost but somehow I go in and get a triple kill. My support says "this ahri deserves to win". My motivation rises. Much later in the game (~45 mins), my teammates lost a teamfight (4 died to kill 1) before I could join it, but I go in 1v4, clean up the first 3 and 1v1 the 4th for a quadra. Enemies say in /all chat "ahri smurfing?", "ahri ur playing literally 1v9", I'm so proud of myself at that point. With lich bane I manage to take inhib, nexus turrets and the nexus, ending the game by myself. My final KDA was 19/1/14, I did like 100k damage in a 50 minute game. My support gifted me Popstar Ahri which I still use to this day, and all of my teammates from that game are still in my friends list.

My first penta kill.... I was pretty much a fresh level 30. (yes, i got a penta that soon). I was playing Master Yi jungle...HA go figure, fresh level 30, plays master yi jungle, gets penta kill. lmao.

Honestly. i...Didn't do anything i was running teleport smite. i was currently in the middle of respawning less than 10 seconds to go...when my team had fought 4v5..they all died, not getting a single kill. all 5 of the enemies were super low. so i basically just teleported in and pressed Q. and well, the rest is history. they all died. and i pushed for the win

Surrendering as their nexus dies, so that their nexus explodes, then the camera pans really fast to your nexus, which also explodes. It's really fun to see the confusion in the postgame chat, plus it helps make a game that was just a slaughter more fun for everyone.

There was also the time that the enemies (who were ahead) tried to baron despite having no real tanks; our 2/4/2 first time Jinx ran in alone, got a quadra kill, and stole baron.

This story comes from season 4, back when Sejuani had some sizable ap ratios on her E.

My team was behind from some failed ganks and engages, it was around 30 minutes in and I had my Spirit of the Spectral Wraith, Sorcerer's Shoes , and I just finished my Liandry's Torment. I heard from friend at the time who always messed around with off meta builds that AP Sejuani was practically an assassin and all I had to do was build full AP and max E. I can't remember either teams comps, but I do remember one hilarious moment that just tanked the whole notion of the meta being the only thing I'd every play.

My team's doing dragon, the enemy team comes to stop us. Teamfight starts, they instantly kill our carries and my team barely damages their front line. I come strolling in from base, 4 man ult, Q into them, and pop my E. Their carries just Explode. I manage to 1v2 the rest of the team and then take the drag, putting us back into the game and ultimately (pun not intended) end up carrying the win since their carries die almost instantly from the E damage.

Good times, so sad to see since the changes to her E and W so that she does usefull damage as a tank.

So I'm playing Nunu. And I'm absolutely shutting down the enemy jungler. Our ADC (my duo friend) got pretty fed, and I got to move up in vision and farm zone into their jungle. I was literally begging my ADC to take our red and blue buffs, because theirs were all mine (this was when Poacher's still existed, so it was a lot easier). And so I decided, as a prank, to do the old-Absolute Zero bush hide. I told my ADC friend, the one who was super far ahead with an enormous bounty, to go alone towards their base. So he wanders off, finds 2-3 of them, and promptly runs towards me. I start charging, and as they walk into the bush, boom, triple kill.

Longest game I ever had was 1 hour and 27 minutes.

The game didn't start well for my team. I was flat AP Teemo against a Shen that had already begun building obnoxious levels of MR. The rest of the team wasn't doing quite as well as hoped, with a double kill to the enemy bot laner and our midlaner being pushed back by a Zed. Eventually, arguments began to erupt, and I think all of us were ready to end it. Teamfights weren't ending well, and we lost 2 inhibs and were on the inhib turret at top lane. We had every reason to surrender.

And then something happened. I just said "Fuck it, I'ma shroom the place." I turned our base into the fucking North Korean DMZ. I planted mushrooms in as many places and openings I could find. Then, as their enemy team came up mid lane, I sat still and let them push up, not knowing I was there. When the enemy Vayne accidentally stepped on a shroom, I fired off an AA-Q-AA and instantly killed her. While their team was suddenly surprised and stepping on tons of mushrooms, my team completely wiped them across the floor. The arguments instantly stopped when we realized that this could be a comeback. Then we went out, got a few turrets, lost another teamfight; then I did something similar again, this time taking out their Zed (while dying in the process).

This went back-and-fourth for the next ~45 minutes, each time they'd manage to take our exposed inhibs in exchange that we took out a few of their turrets. Our ADC decided to do a very risky maneuver, where she would go through the enemy's jungle to get their inhibs and nexus during a teamfight. Because she wasn't there, we inevitably lost the teamfight, especially since they were expecting me. However, just before they could get to the nexus, they're slowed by several shrooms. And just before the VERY LAST hit for them to win the game, our ADC killed their nexus and we won.

it was at this moment I had realized I officially sold my soul to Satan himself. I have played him quite regularly since.

Also, another moment, I was Thresh at midlane with my ADC, taking the outer turret. Wasn't particularly exciting, just taking objectives. Suddenly, from over the chicken camp comes a ward, followed by a ward-hopping Lee Sin. And, I swear to christ, I don't know how, but I wasn't paying attention really well. All I remember thinking was "Oh, a ward", and for whatever reason I Q towards the ward out of pure instinct. Before I could slap myself for my stupidity, my hook lands on the Lee Sin the EXACT moment he hits the ward, and my ADC kills him.

That Lee Sin thought I was scripting.

Our Lee Sin didn't communicate in champion select during my Season 4 promo to Platinum. I was forced to go Jungle Kayle. I had no experience doing it up until that point, but figured what the hell, right?

Lee ends up feeding a Rengar in top lane. Lee is 0/6 by about 10 minutes and Rengar has roamed a bit, going 9/0 or something. It isn't until the first teamfight that things start looking bright. The Corki in bottom lane hadn't really said anything all game, immediately showing he was exceptionally patient given the current circumstances. Rengar ult-jumps onto him and I manage to shield-immune him from Rengar's burst. We proceed to jerk him around a bit and kill him. Alright, cool.

This happens a couple more times and we start making a turnaround. We're at their middle inhib tower and Rengar is splitpushing top. I decide to go and stop him. He's at our inhib by the time I manage to get back and he ults to engage on me. I shield halfway through his combo, barely surviving. I've exhausted everything and my team just won the fight at middle inhib and are pushing. He has a barely visible healthbar and knew he'd auto before I could. Not sure how I did it, but the thing that secured the kill right as he killed me? Gunblade. I used Gunblade for the extra damage and we simultaneously killed each other while my team pushed for the win.

I've never felt so good about a match in my entire time playing this game. The Corki was thrilled and we had a good round of talking in the game lobby.

i think one of my favourite games was a couple months ago when i got a mystery skin from the ENEMY team after the game.

i was playing irelia, doing Irelia Things, and the enemy illaoi had already given me a few kills in lane. my team was pretty ahead and i was tryharding top because i know how strong illaoi can be when she's built & ulting everyone on your team, didn't really want them to stomp us late game, and their team comp was built around that. wanted to get fed and finish

but then illaoi started acting really weird, walking back and forth with like a 5 second delay. asked her in all chat if she was lagging and she was. but not normal lag, like, completely unmanagable lag. so i figured i could stop tryharding and at least let her farm.

i let her free farm for about 10 minutes until she messaged me back saying her ping went way down and she could continue to play as normal. she seemed to have caught up but we won in the end and the enemy team didn't seem to mind. it was a fair game and everyone had fun.

i mean, i do this like every time my lane opponent is lagging or was disconnected early game and fell behind, it's normals and i don't give a fuck, but it just made me happy how much the enemy team appreciated it? it was a really simple thing to just.. not be a dick and kill the laggy top laner but in the end i got 4 honors and a mystery skin just for that.

league is so much shit talking and bm that sometimes i forget the enemy team is actually just people that want to play league, and not.. your enemy. of course it's your job to fight against them, but i see no reason why you have to be enemies in chat too.

being an old support main and stealing baron/drake tons of times with a janna q or a braum ult was always funny to do or just playing any one with friends and going to a drake and saying "i got this" and stealing it and just looking super bad-ass ofc theres also that game i played shen jungle (old shen) and stole baron twice by dashing in, smiting and flashing out(we won cus of the last baron)

Just going to drop a cautionary war tale as an aside for this thread, since Baron/Dragon has come up so much in people's stories.

This one comes fresh from the trenches, coming off of a somewhat miserable Leona game I just...I'm not going to say "won," but ended up on the victorious side, after lagging out for the majority of the first ten minutes of the game.

There is a certain luxury of being able to play fairly badly as a support and still remain relevant through the virtue of high base stats and funneling income into lavish vision control. As an unspoken apology to my teammates, I tried to redouble my efforts alongside them in making sure every area we were traveling to in order to contest an objective was glowing like a forest fire. Thus, I had a very clear sight of the events that unfolded since every single member of the enemy team was standing somewhere within ward vision around the enemy jungle side of the Baron pit.

It's my humble opinion that there is seldom a good time to actually fight the baron when the enemy team is anywhere in the vicinity. If you're going to have to fight them after the baron, you best go ahead and fight them with full health if you can take them, or attempt to stall and get a good pick if you're lagging.

Actually starting the baron at lower than half health after a bad trade, with only one other teammate directly in line of effect... this is paramount to suicide in my opinon.

However, whether you agree with these assessments of mine, the fact that the Udyr who did this simply got erased through his turtle shield by a full Mejai's stacked Lux Ultimate makes the details of this act rather unimportant, except that she probably wouldn't have fired off the shot if she didn't see him actively fighting Baron. Alone and engaged in a hopeless battle with no opportunity that could have come out better for him; there are few more pathetic deaths I have seen in this game.

A Tangential Lesson: Friends don't let friends fight baron when the enemy team is firmly attached to their butcheeks by the boot.
