I would find it encouraging if Taric was the Adam Strange of Runeterra.

A little background for those less knowledgeable of DC's extensive B-list and C-list hero cast.

Adam Strange is basically a hero who was born of an age where the wonders of space exploration was in the collective fantasy. He comes from a breed of cosmic heroes who found adventure in strange and fantastic alien settings, asking questions like: Could there be other life and civilization out there? What would it be like? How bangable is it on a scale from 1 to 10?

At the core of things, Adam Strange is just this guy who was transported to a strange place he didn't know anything about and fell in love with the people there, taking it upon himself to become their champion (naturally, in the more imperialistic noble white- I mean, "Earth" man way of the old age upon creation which has gradually shifted to that of a friend and adopted son of the culture in more recent incarnations) He becomes a being of two worlds, starting a new life on the alien planet Rann while still keeping his attachments to Earth.

So, the Targonians are now a race of space-travelling cosmic weirdos. That's...well, bizarre and confusing for starters. I can only imagine the conversation in the lore team's discussion room went something like:

Writer 1: "So, what kinds of genres and settings do we want for the direction of this new lore?"

Writer 2: "Yes!"

Writer 1: "What?"

Writer 2: "All of them!"

But hey, the word is in the book now and it seems like a pretty decent assumption that this is where Riot is going to solve how Taric is a champion from another planet.

Taric is probably going to be reintroduced as some kind of emissary from a breed of Targonians far away sent to repair the star gems on Aurelion Sol's crown, by my best guess.

I reallly...reallly really really really really do not want to see Taric literally turned into a Space Marine. Can we please retain the basic kindness and humanity of the character that was hinted at in his original lore? A noble/scholarly knight of sorts who travels to what is frankly a savage and deadly alien world in his eyes, but comes to respect, love and protect the people he finds there even if he has this greater mission, maybe? Not a cold, detached soldier of some advanced empire carrying out his duty at whatever cost.

Riot's comments regarding his behavior and Aurelion Sol's remark about tackiness makes me hopeful that they'll keep his warm, friendly, and somewhat off-beat personality.

Personally, I'd love if he was like Solaire: A jolly, friendly errant knight with a peculiar obsession but always ready and able to help those in need and somebody whom you really don't want on your bad side.

I thought it was Adam Sandler and was very confused at first.
