can we stop trying to draw comparisons between LOL and (Americana) Football for player behavior?

ive seen allot of comments were people try and compare LOL to football for Player behavior, they say things like well in football if a player messes up you dont yell at them (and other things along the same line) i hate to break it to you but yeah you do.

if you mess up (especially repeatedly) you will receive negative feed back someone will start off with dude do your job (block tackle catch throw accurately) and if you continue to not do it you will get yelled at

if the line cant hold the qb will likely yell at them/negative comments. if the receivers cant catch everyone is likely to yell/make negative comments if the qb cant get to ball to the receiver he can expect some toxicity from his receivers. and the coach will most likely add to anything the players give you for being bad he might even bench you if you keep sucking.

the difference is football players have much thicker skins (usually sometimes they dont but in that case they tend to fight rather then complain to the coach) and they dont consider things like "dude you suck" as toxic if there sucking they just take it as inspiration to perform better and show everyone they dont suck they dont run and tell and complain and try and get someone banned for saying "you suck"

the main difference is football and the majority of its players are competitive and value winning over good attitudes and being nice to those who suck to were league is semi competitive but has allot more players who care about everyone being nice to them more then winning

so stop the comparisons football is much more toxic your not helping your case we just deal with it better :>

(im getting down-voted aren't i?)

No, the main difference is that in the case of football(all sports and most games) you choose your team. You also have a group of people that all want to be a part of that team. In league that is essentially never the case.

Outside of league we have social construct that deals with toxicity, we choose who we are around. If someone is an asshole, you don't invite that person back. In league however you are just randomly matched with people who you are stuck with for the duration of the game.

Someone you know telling you that you suck is a lot different than a random person telling you that you suck.

TLDR: It's not a thickness of skin issue. Its an issue of choosing who you play with. An individual or a team might be ok with trash talking or "negging" but that is not appropriate in a setting where you are matched with random strangers.

Are you comparing the behavioral expectations of League's solo-queue to organized team play of any game? Because that's silly.

Not because they're different games, but because the underlying social structures are incredibly different.

On the other hand, you'll probably find that player expectations of their pre-made groups (Ranked 5s or otherwise) tends to fit pretty neatly into the exact same behavioral structure you're discussing. It's a valid comparison, with a lot of overlapping structures, including behavioral expectations.
