I'd like to know how it works from an actual Rioter please but anyone else who knows is free to tell me too. Last season I won 7 games in a row and I'm sure I did ok in all of them as I played my main which was Irelia at that time and didn't skip a divison at all so I was curious as to how it works.
If your MMR is a full tier higher than your current placement, you're eligible for skipping divisions. If you look at your profile on the Leagues tab, on the right it tells you how to get promoted. Normally it just says "Get to 100 LP then win 2/3 for Division promotion or 3/5 for Tier promotion", but if you're eligible for skipping it will tell you how many games to win and how far you'll be promoted, such as "Win the next 2 games and you'll be promoted to Division X".
