So this placement matchmaking

Games 1-3: good teams, good hard fought games.

Game 4: "I only play mid, you forced me adc" said nothing in select. Leaves. Lose.

Game 5: "This is my first ranked game ever." -> all 4 teammates. Favorite line: "what do you mean trade? I wanna play mid". Massive feeding from all, lose.

Game 6: Guy plays ADC by clicking on the enemy and standing there AAing. Doesn't understand what he is doing wrong. Assumed younger sibling stealing account. Lose.

Game 7: "I'm carry from bot Morg" -> constantly engaging on the mid solo. "I'm support I'm supposed to die" after making the teamfights 4v5. Combined with feeding top and meh jungler, lose.

Game 8: Oh my god this is the worst mid I have ever seen, bot also getting super fed. Easy victory.

Game 9: Oh my god this is the worst mid I have ever seen, top also getting super fed. Horrible defeat.

Game 10: Enemy mid leaves. Easy win

Result: From Silver V season 3, with a 5-5 placement, I was put in BRONZE III. So a 50% win rate is worth a half a league worth of demotion. Yes, great and fair algorithm you have their RIOT.

This fits with my general experience with matchmaking, which is that if I start to win a lot in a row, the system responds NOT by making the opponents better, but by providing a streak of horrible players on my own team, and if I lose a few due to this, it reverses and makes the enemy team REALLY bad for several games. I do not find either setup particularly fun.

Ok, strangely enough this is what happens for me as well. I hate placement and then get stuck with really cruddy players in bronze which is what I am in now. Oh well, they really cannot fix this

To help reiterate your case, I understand your pain. Prior to placements, I was 1254 rating on Lolking, Silver 4. Once Season 4 reset happened, I played my 10 games, went 8-2 in placements, and ended up 1100 on Lolking, Silver 5. And of course, due to the very LARGE amount of bronze players sifting downward over the past week, I've been unable to break through the barrier in Promo to move forward. It's very frustrating to be in that area of low Silver to finally start breaking out, just to have the season reset, and you ROCK your placements, only to be knocked down lower.

It definitely has been leaving a bad taste in competative players mouths. Bad algorithm if you ask me.

I'm basically EXACTLY where I was at the beginning of Season 3. The reset ERASED 100% of my progress for the last year.

Elo rating is broken, face the truth. No matter how many games you win, even if you win all 10 promo games, you end up with a lower elo rating than you had before season 4.

First, I was Bronze 3. One week before Season 3 would end, I decided to head-in and play ranked hardcore, because before I was playing with caution, to not lose any more elo because of toxic community.

However, I made it from Bronze 3 to Silver 2 in one week. Then after season 3 end and preseason 4, I tried couple of times and couldn't go farther. Mainly because people play ranked frequently even because there is no real ranking system, most thought their elo will be reset.

Despite of my tries, I was after 5 wins and 5 losses back to Silver V. On the same day, I came to Silver 3.

I saw alot of people who had gold or Silver 1, now being bronze or Silver V. System of a Down.

I too am a victim of the placement algorithm. I actually started a new account in season 3 because I was so frustrated playing my main account in Bronze and I knew that I could do better. I played literally the whole season to get to 30. I have a wife and two kids so my league time is extremely limited. Needless to say I finally hit 30 during preseason 4 and played my matches going 7/10. I got Silver III and was so proud. All that hard work and time finally payed off. So I play in the preseason and it was like I was playing a new league. Most of my games seemed to have fairly skilled players on both teams and everyone really worked together. I began to really enjoy league again. Until Season 4 actually started. I play my 10 matches and again go 7/10 and got placed into Silver V. I was so torn. Most matches i play now are with Bronze I and II and it is back to the scum again. Leavers, AFK's, intentional feeders after we get the classic, "let me mid and we win" speech. So here I am back in my main account grinding away to hopefully get into silver and get moving up. But I really do hope that riot revisits the ranking system. I really hope that something is worked out for the better.
