at least you can connect and stay connected to a game there
but ya it's okay a lot different than league.
Why don't you just try? It's free, and you don't have to unlock heroes (champions) and there are no levels blocking off spells masteries or runes (because they don't exist). Just keep in mind that it feels a lot different even though it looks similar.
so it is worth trying
