HELP buying a $3200 ALIENWARE PLZ!

My friend is trying to get an alienware for max settings and STREAMING but this is very confusing, these three are sold on their website but have difference parts at the same or higher prices:

  1. Area 51 ($3200):

5th Generation i7 (6 cores) NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 980 with 4GB GDDR5 16GB RAM

  1. Area 51 ($2500):

6th Generation i7 (4 cores) AMD Radeon™ R9 370 with 4GB GDDR5 8GB RAM

  1. New model AURORA /or the x51 ($2500):

6th Generation i7 (4 cores) NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970 with 4GB GDDR5 16GB RAM

This doesn't make much sense to me.

  • For $3200 the Area 51 comes with a 5th gen i7, and a GTX 980.

  • For $2500, an X51 or new model Aurora comes with a 6th gen i7 and a GTX 970.

From what I've searched, the GTX 970 and 980 are pretty much the same. For the processor I've read that the 6th gen might be better for JUST gaming but the 5th gen i7 (6cores) is better for streaming/editing/gaming, etc?

So how are they charging $700 more for the Area 51 that is basically the same power?

and how are they selling the Area 51 for $2500 when the x51 sold for the same price comes with 16GB ram, a better graphics card and the same processor?

Right now my friend decided on the $3200 Area 51 but they're over charging for that aren't they? Which PC should my friend buy? (money isnt the issue).

THANKS!!! XDXDXD!!!!

EDIT: Just as I was making this thread, they have seemed to switch out the 5th gens for 6th gens on all of the Area 51 models. They have been on 5th gen for MONTHS. WTF. So NOW the $3200 has the SAME processor as the $2500 Aurora/x51, the only difference is the 980 vs the 970 WHICH IS BASICALLY THEH SAME!!! So they're charging $700 more for pretty much the SAME GRAPHCIS CARD?

If you're short on cash, do not just go buy an Alienware. You do not need the highest end components to stream and run everything at max settings (multi-4k monitor setups notwithstanding) so you can get a budget system, and you can also build it yourself to save money. You buy Alienware for the name and the warranty, not the performance.

P.S. I also suggest going for the 10X0 GTX cards. The newer you get the longer it'll last, and the 1070/80 are far better than the 900 series.

Don't get an Alienware. They are a massive waste of money. I've seen prices elsewhere for the same setup, and it cost just slightly over a third of that.
