I think people don't like promos because they're luck
You can win 6 straight games, but if you get unlucky in your promos, you don't advance.

If league was all about luck, everyone would be the same rank and there would be no challenger.
You are where you are because of your own play. Period.
I think the only time I lose promo's if I get into them on a win streak lol. If I do win during that streak I either lose 2 games and get demoted or hang in limbo for a week, play drunk, and fall back down.

Promos don't hold any real meaning, aside from hitting gold V before the end of season cut off.
The whole League system is kind of silly, having promos even sillier, but they're there, and now you have promo helper, so its largely a non issue
i love it when people assume they win out of skill and lose out of luck...... its always about luck or always about skill, not based on whats making you look better

I think the free 1 win has largely fixed the issue with promos, although in its prior state it was horrible luck. The matchmaking itself is messed up. I just got grouped with an Unranked Twitch that did 4k damage to champions 30 minutes into the game, and a Bronze Darius top that fed a Sion. I'm a Silver 2 player. There is no excuse for being grouped with these players.
Make your own luck.
Well, there was a thread a while back about that.
The problem with the promo system is that you can reach promos with a 50.1% winrate, but as soon as you enter a promotion series, you need a 66% winrate over 3 games to advance from a Division promotion, and a 60% winrate over 5 games to advance from a Tier promotion.
Its just statistics and probability, but it pretty much pressures people to perform at a much more consistent rate.
If you usually win 11 games out of 20 on average, it will make you climb (55% winrate here) But if you play 6 games and win, get to Tier promos, then lose 2, win 1, then lose another 1, well, you failed promos, even if your winrate for those 10 last games was 70%...
Its the only unfortunate part of the system in my opinion.
