How about they just change it back so you don't have to lock in. Not sure why they would change something that's been ingrained in people for 5 years. There's no benefit to requiring locking in, makes no sense.
I like not locking in until the last moment. Gives me more time to chat with my teammates prior to landing on the rift and get a feel for how they will act in game.
