How about they just change it back so you don't have to lock in. Not sure why they would change something that's been ingrained in people for 5 years. There's no benefit to requiring locking in, makes no sense.

When you make people lock in it then saves time in champ select, getting you in the game faster. Even if everyone waits til 1 sec left to lock in thats 1 sec per ban x 6 bans + 1 sec per pick x 10 picks = minimum 16 sec saved even if everyone waits til the last moment to lock. Probability says that there will not be 10 people all waiting til 1 sec to lock in for no reason, so you are probably looking at up to multiple MINUTES of time saved in champ select, getting games going faster.

Well right now it's costing people time because they dodge accidentally. Is this worth 16 seconds, I don't know... seems silly

I like not locking in until the last moment. Gives me more time to chat with my teammates prior to landing on the rift and get a feel for how they will act in game.
