Here's some SIMPLE ADVICE That Players NEED to know.
And that would be the proper time to engage, and the proper time to disengage, as well as knowing WHEN YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIGHT. EX: CD's and level. Say you have a very tank/melee/bruiser heavy team, not very much poke, and you are against a poke heavy team, the only way to win, is with a good engage, especially on their back line. Now, this is where so many of the League players FAIL(at least in the matches i get on 2 accounts), and throw the match, as well as piss off their team mates, OR even worse, encourage this kind of behavior more which results in toxicity and throwing matches which = more toxicity but ultimately = LOSSES.
Engaging, when you have 1 bar of HP, or 2 bars, is not going to do a SINGLE THING. Not one single thing. You will die instantly, you will waste whatever you used, AND you single handedly throw the match BY YOURSELF because when you die 1vs5 thinking you had enough hp to accomplish something (which you clearly didn't) , you allow for the enemy team to instantly collapse on YOUR team.
So with that out of the way, Here's the simple advice on when to engage and when to disengage.
** Engaging**
- Do not engage when you have low HP, and the enemy team is half or more.
- Do not engage when your teams ults and items and abilities are on CD, and no one is ready to follow up.
- Do not engage just because you are bored of being poked.
- Do not engage when your team is very clearly a late game team comp against a very damage heavy poke squad. Wait to get tanky, or you will never be able to actually achieve tankiness, and be completely useless. This especially matters with levels as well. Why die level 3, and feed the enemy, when you can wait till level 6 where your team instantly gets a decent advantage. Dying for no reason is just making it where you will never actually get tanky.
I hear this all the time "WHY DO THEY DO SO MUCH DAMAGE QQQQ I HAVE ARMOR QQQQ". Well, it's simply because you died 5 times before level 6, and they already have armor pen and freaking lethality. Their 2 arm pen items are better than your 1 tank item. Simple as that.
** Disengaging**
- Did your team get a decent pick but all your HP is too low to continue? Then disengage. Do NOT dive the turret and die just because you got 1 good pick.
- Did your team get a good pick, or 2, and your team still has lots of HP, and a minion wave? Then push the turret till that wave dies, then GTFO. Do NOT overstay just for their freshly respawned and item bought team to come and stomp whats left of your team. Disengaging is pretty simple, know the limits of your champs, their hp, their items, and do not overstay based off of that. But that requires some simple logic and thinking, whiiiiiiich is lets face it, unlikely your teams strong suite.
Objective Engages/Disengages
- Is your team there? If not, throw a ward down and leave it alone. Even if you steal that dragon, which in most cases you FAIL, the best case scenario is you manage to steal it, DIE, and then they collapse on your turret. Unless it's a game deciding Baron, DO NOT SENSELESSLY DIE trying to steal something. Especially Dragon, it's not all that, and it is definitely not worth losing a turret for. 2.IF your team ACTUALLY IS THERE, Ward, and go as a team, not 1 at a time into the pitch darkness. Set up a perimeter, have a couple attacking the objective, and a couple defending. Try to get a quick pick if you can when the enemy team comes to take said objective. But do NOT throw the objective for that pick. If you can't get em, don't die trying. Get the objective, Get out. If you can get a good pick while doing so, then do so. IF that goes well, then you can collapse on the enemy now that it's 4v5, and you have a fresh buff.
Pretty simple stuff right? Knowing when to engage/disengage/just knowing when to fight period is the core problem with players in this game, so i figured this might help a little bit for those players looking to improve. You can lose in CS, Lose your lane, hell , even lose your turrets in your lane, but it will not matter as long as your team knows when to engage and disengage as a TEAM.(well unless you fed the enemy Vayne, in that case, your screwed, JK).
This is a team game, not a "I CAN ENGAGE 1vs5 and hope to win" game. Please learn the very basics of engaging and disengaging, especially if you are one of those players that shit talks team mates for not following up, because the likely case is they were NOT ABLE to follow up and you went all Rambo for nothing and are flaming others for your own lack of attention.
So, those are the basic tips.
Feel free to improve on them, or add more detail. For those of you who are just going to thumbs down this (Which i know there is plenty of you) , you either are likely one of these players that needs to learn these, or you already know them and are thinking you are an elitist or something, or you are just SALTY AS HELL, so dislike away if you please if it makes you feel better i guess, it doesn't really effect me, i am just putting some tips out there for people to understand and improve along WITH ME.
I am equally as guilty at being BAD, so i am not placing myself higher than anyone else on the matter, these are the tips i came up with when watching replays of matches, as well as my own matches in my ranked games on my other account (stuck in freaking plat damnit). I needed to figure out why i couldn't climb, and these are what i observed the most issues of from most losses. I make these mistakes along side with my team mates, so the best thing to do is IMPROVE MYSELF, then try to lead the team.
Have a nice day, improve, have fun, don't flame, and give your mom a call every once in a while! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
