Whenever I see people bringing champions of a certain lane into another lane

Like for example:

  • People going Rivenmid instead of top.
  • Yasuo top instead of mid
  • Ekko bot instead of mid

Meta-breakers aside, but I'd always imagine how much would they have sucked if they bring those champions to their MAIN intended lane.

.....especially those bringing Vayne Quinn top instead of ADC bot.

Im juz saying :p

Quinn is a well and established top laner though. On another note, Riven mid? These people are practically counter picking themselves.

Quinn is a meta top laner though.

On another note, Riven mid? These people are practically counter picking themselves. Riven tends to do well against squishy champions. Especially when they're immobile.

Ekko is more of a jungler than a midlaner. He's not even all that amazing mid, especially since he can't free-aim his ult and it needs set-up. He may be intended for mid, but he has a better kit for jungling if you ask me. Bot is just crazy.

Yasuo top isn't nearly as popular as mid, but it seems decent. Yasuo is a fighter, not a pure assassin, so I'm just saying :V Nothing wrong with having two meta roles instead of one (looking at you, Annie/Nautilus/Brand).

Gonna agree with you on Riven mid, though.

Keep in mind that two of those champions can excel in at least two+ roles, not one. I know what you're trying to say, but there's better examples.

I dunno, many of the people I've seen take a champ to a lane that isn't where most people take them play a heavy % of their games on that champ. For instance I played mostly Heimerdinger to gold this season (and played him like 30 games on a second account when I was really tryharding to rank it up) and he is generally considered a mid lane champ but I played a whole lot of Heimerdinger top. I have like a 60 something % win rate over around 190 games so I usually did decent top, but mid is often much easier bc you can control dragon so simply and rotate to take towers easier as well.

A lot of the time I would bet that people taking champs to lanes you don't expect would do just as well if not far better in the lane you expect that champ to be in.
