Am I the only one who feels like 90% of people who cosplay as deadpool haven't read a single comic

of his? I feel like if I ask them why they like deadpool they say something along the lines of "Hurr durr he is funny". Then I'll ask them "what's is your favorite story arc/ comic of his?" To which they will reply "He has a comic? I thought he was only in video games and Hulk vs. he is so funny hurr durr". I am asking because my friend went to San Diego comic con and took a bunch of photos with people and there were so many deadpools in his photos. Inb4 who cares the character is popular. This issue is the same as someone who listens to one song of your favorite band and then proclaims that they are die hard fan/ bigger fan then you. Also sorry if this is wrong board still getting used to these forums.

I mean, does it really matter whether they've read his comics?

The whole purpose of expanding an IP into new media is to reach new eyeballs.

Well for one this is lol not comics or marvel forums but because I do love deadpool haven't had opportunities to read alot of his comics being super poor n all i do know a lot about him just not specifics but the biggest reason you're seeing deadpool is they've actually started his movie which has been cried for since the 90s

I've seen Deadpool in some media, including playing his videogame, and I can definitely say I'm a fan because of what I've seen from him.

But, however, you're pretty much right. I'm not a diehard fan, not a very faithful fan until I really get to know Deadpool's story, you know?

I mean I don't read comics but still enjoy the superhero type shows/movies.

They don't make them for previous fans only... They make them to expand their fanbase

On topic, I haven't had a chance to read a single one of his comics but I only know of him through other Marvel media that he cameo'd in. Like Hulk Vs LOL!, Spiderman Games or just him randomly showing up in a TV show.

I knew he had a series of comics and i knew i'd never get a chance ot read any of them because i'm poor so i normally read descriptions of hids adventures or watched videos of them.

All I really know about Deadpool is that he had MEGA cancer and he was "cured" by his cells being reversed, so instead of them decaying his body, the regenerate it at a level that makes his healing put Wolverines to shame. I don't even know how he got his skills, I think it was from Weapon X program because of Hulk Vs but I got nothing else besides what i learned from the game.

I would never say I'm a bigger fan of Deadpool then anyone because I literally haven't even played is game, read any of his comics or even touched his dick yet. I'm no where near as close to Deadpool as I'd want.
