When a raging child explodes on the Forum and it's deleted...

Does anybody else hate replying to them, respectfully explaining why they are in the wrong, but their post is immediately deleted by a mod or the writer, leaving you unable to enjoy their raging responses?

Just now someone posted how they hated Riot or whatnot for them being demoted, and claimed they would sue if they got punished in any way for the outburst because they "had found so many loopholes in their contract". I took the 10 seconds needed and posted the ToS paragraph stating Riot can do whatever they want to the account; but, the thread was smote instantly leaving me unable to grab popcorn and wait for a response :(

This happens often to me, since I dislike people raging so I explain why they need to back down and chill, usually in a respectful manner.

Interactions of that sort can be temporarily entertaining, but ultimately lead to nothing but the furthering of the stereotype that antagonistic relationships are the norm in League of Legends. The satisfaction of people who enjoy condescending over the internet is a lower priority than the health of the community as a whole.

Yes, you're right. I very often comment with helpful intentions, but I can't abide whiners so sometimes there's an antagonizing undertone (or flat out taunt them when they decide to start misinterpreting what I say on purpose).

I bet you skipped the part where they say we can permanently ban you at any time for any or no reason, and no notification.

I saw that thread. I called him the average drunk 4-year-old American, to which he responded by saying he was 12, and calling me racist.

There's a reason I bring matches to a box of fireworks.

While I don't like that the threads get shut down and I don't get to see them ever again (as opposed to the usual locked threads on the old forum), at the same time, I don't mind. The mods feel like it doesn't belong on the forums (and it doesn't), and the person's so desperate for attention, they're stopping short of literally whipping out their dick in the middle of a mall so people will notice them. Delete it, they don't get their attention, and no one gets worked up about it (because, even though we know better, someone will get worked up).

Riot should let their downvote system work, rather than have moderators permanently delete discussion. What;s the point of a self moderating upvote/downvote system if you're just going to filter out dissent anyway? Kinda gross.

Well, a generally disliked opinion doesn't mean it should be silenced. The voting system isn't for moderation anyway (votes pushing a thread to the bottom doesn't make it go away, especially since there are several sorting methods). A simply annoying post could have -15 and be noticed quickly by a mod for that reason, but the -1 post containing a death threat will not escape their notice either (I'm pretty sure they're instantly notified by reported posts too).

I'm kinda tired so that might have not made enough sense. Good night!

I wasn't aware the original thread had a death threat. I thought it was just a rager. O well. I guess we can just completely delete (not close) all threads deemed negative, as well as all of their responses.

I just hate how if I respond to a thread (and this has happened several times mind you, with the East Coast ping threads and several other balance threads) where a controversial thread will have some legitimate points brought up by people responding to the thread, and then I would respond to them... a legitimiate discussion would be born from the illigitimate one. Kind of like me responding to you right now, or some other posts in this thread.

Then the thread gets deleted. At the expense of all the posts in the thread. Gone. I find it absolutely disgusting that someone can create a discussion, and then it disappears, all "permalinks" stop working, and the ideas are snuffed out. That's fucked up. Just C L O S E the thread. Mods should almost never delete threads.

If there is death threat content, porn, etc., mods should ~~SNIP~~ - REMOVED BY MODERATION -thread closed- ^This is what should happen. The closed thread will sink into oblivion anyway but all responses or legitimate discussion or ideas born from the closed thread will remain, rather than be removed from existence.

No no, it didn't have a death threat, it's just an extreme example and I'm saying mods will catch it even if it doesn't have a lot of downvotes.
