@Riot What's the difference between removing someone's thread or disabling the comment section?

Title, cz I felt like disabling someone's comment section's only purpose is to show the whole Boards of what an idiotic person he is.

And here, we're not allowed to Name & Shame. Irony much, Rito?

removed post basically means its gone. like my love life.

comment section disabled basically means the love life is still there, but the post is unavailable for future relationships. the discussion has ended.

Disabling comments doesn't necessarily mean that the OP did something wrong (though sometimes that is the reason). It's usually because the discussion escalated into nothing more than destructive arguments. They don't want to delete the thread if the OP didn't do anything wrong.

they delete a thread when its against the rules.

in that example, there are multiple other threads about the downtime, so they just locked the comments, if they would erase the thread it would make them seem disengenuine, while leaving it open would add to the endless downtime spam.
