The closed beta probably doesn't have much longer, and the ability to purchase the Founder's Pack to gain entry instantly is over today. If you don't get this key, they are still sending out waves of keys, if you're lucky and aren't just waiting for it to go live.

I just signed up some beta access for Overwatch and HotS the same day I started Hearthstone not even a week ago through the battlenet client, now I can play HotS too without anything.
Dunno, maybe I was just lucky and go on the last train or something.

If you get chosen by Blizzard to get access, they just automatically activate it on your account. Beta keys are for giveaways or for people to invite their friends to play with them.
