Malphite mid? Yup. Malphite jungle? Sure. Malphite support? Will do. Malphite top? Perfect! Malphite adc? Well I don't know about that.
I have won almost every ranked game that another person on my team is playing Malphite. Trust me, if you have a Malphite and one other tank, like a Shyvana jungle or Nautalis support, it's hard to lose.
hes weak early game.
with the changes reto has made to the game the most important things happen in the first 10-15 minutes. Malph can easily become an "ult and die" champion with no other means of carrying or winning the game when his team isn't right on the same page.
in other words,
if your team can't do damage, you can't win with malph.
It's funny, but support 
works wonders up to plat, cause adcs don't know how to play aggressive. I guess the same applies to positions, so yeah.
