So i was playing a game of ARAM and our Jinx took a long time to connect so our Zilean jokingly asked if Jinx had Dial-up (plz tell me you know what that is) and our Jinx said... "Dial-up what the hell is that"...it just made me realize I'm actually playing with people born in the 2000's ( not that its a bad thing) but man it just seems crazy to me....

but me and Zilean got a good laugh at reminiscing on the joy that was dial-up...

just imagine dial-up in league a summoner has disconnected a summoner has reconnected summoner- sorry guys someone called my house

edit: also im not really old at all i was born mid 90's but still XD

I remember sitting in front of the computer screen waiting for some 10-15 minutes just for Runescape to load up the first time I tried to play the game. Went back to the ol' runescape site again: http://oldschool.runescape.com/

Runescape loaded in less than 30 seconds and my roommates consider my internet crappy.

Yep. That was me back in the 90's. I had good ol' Netzero dial-up. Had to play Runescape when my mom wasn't home our I would have to get off when a phone call came.

i uysed to play that game hardcore........ran into zilean once......i was an arena hustler........started my career with 60 attack (dragon dragon, wore rune scimitar before staked duel) 40 str, 10 def............i won so many duels by doing no armor for either of us.........i quit playing runescape at level 86...........my dad stopped paying my subscription, i had all my expensive stuff on me (was staking in arena) and with the loss of bank i couldnt put it away......went to wild level 3-4 to farm dark wizards...............mage came by and killed me with snares

Im early 90's.

6 years old sitting at my first computer playing broodwar with some internet.

I've had charter communications most of my life.

Their support techs are kind of retarded and shitty but other than that they're fine.. (and by that I mean what they ask you to do I can do myself or already tried that hours ago lolol)

broodwar and runescape and halo Basically most of my "online childhood" Also AoL messengar or w/e it was called. Also did some Gaiaonline with my first girlfriend back in middleschool we'd chat when we weren't in school online and sometimes go the park together. Young love is cute. The minigames also weren't bad for a chat website game. They had this one mmoRPG mode that had rings or w/e And the whole thing was browser based.

did a lot of local halo tournaments. I was a god so I usually won the money prizes. Halo 1/2 was my jam as a young man.

Haven't played a halo game since halo 4 Didnt like halo since halo 3 though. Halo 3 was probably the last game I could stand because I knew bungie was changing a lot and just too much change.

The adding of sprinting into the game was just wierd for me personally, never really liked it. I thought it didn't belong. I think halo 2 was the golden age for me. In terms of map flow and gameplay and community.

Actually, some don't. My wife started streaming a game a while ago and one of her followers mentioned that he doesn't have a computer, and won't get one until August. This kid is high-school aged (from what they've told us), and considering they've been watching without a computer, it implies they are either using a phone or a tablet, and nothing else.

Play good games: EVE, League, Skyrim, GW2, Destiny, Battlefield, Crysis, SOASE, RCT1, etc.

Basically all the high end MOBA's, RPG's, Tycoon games, and FPS's. That dinky phone is not going to stand up to even a decent tower and the screen is wayyyyy too small.

Yeah, but part of their (SquareEnix) contribution to the mobile phone gaming market was Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, so, uh, take whatever comes from any big company with a big helping of penicillin. Oh yeah, and Dungeon Keeper Mobile slithered out of the raw, crusted-over asshole that is EA. Still salty. Like the damn Dead Sea over here.

The big companies like Square and EA and their ilk are the companies I'd avoid on the mobile gaming market for the most part since they tend to have little care of the mobile market beyond seeing it as another avenue to which money can stream to them, and with even less effort (as proven by the not-even-half-assed Dungeon Keeper Mobile). It doesn't help that microtransaction-based game economics means "there is no price cap for these games", since people can repeatedly buy the same thing over and over.

As you can guess: I don't do mobile games. Pretty much ever. They're largely a cesspool of money-grubbing fiends that lurch toward your wallet in the most despicable and inhuman ways. Not all of them are like that, but the ones that are really do ruin it for the rest.

By landline, I'm refering specifically to hardwired telephones (even wireless phones are considered landlines, due to having a base that plug into the wall.) Cable, DSL, and other forms of Broadband/highspeed internet don't go through standard telephone landlines.

Diablo 2 was fine on dialup. Hell I played wow on dialup after Hurricane katrina left me without cable for a bit, it was fine on low sittings as long as I was questing by myself.

Back in days of yore;

There were 2 Germanys and Berlin had a Wall. Saddam Hussein was a great ally of the USA, he was fighting Iran. The USSR was fighting in Afghanistan, and the USA was sending the proto-Taliban food, medicine, and weapons. The Southeast US only elected democrats. Republicans were the damn Yankees. The Star Wars story didn't suck and there was no Jar-Jar Binks. And of course the phone had a rotary dial that you spun. The good old-rotary phones. In memory of their greatness, we still refer to it as "dialing".

Oh, and the Ozone layer had a whole in it.

When it was new and all that was available, waiting for a page to load was considered normal.

That really wasn't the case. Webpages weren't as top-heavy, so they required fewer kb's to load. There was some load time, but typically not more than 3-4 seconds. Remember, we played online games with dial-up. Surprisingly well, looking back.
