Poro icons also caused RP** PURELY **because it was a skin. A skin of what? Two poros you can't see teamfighting 90% of the god damn time for 1 week?
Yeah, icons add little to the game itself, so I would never actually pay for them. However; I think they're great as rewards. Gives me a reason to play sometimes when I may not actually feel like playing league or certain game modes.
I could see paying for an icon to support your favorite team, but other than that there's not much point.

While icons are cosmetic, icons represent US and charging RP is a insult.
