Uhhh is there a point to play Rank games now?
The reward distribution for Season 5 was over, and rank is going to reset by next year, so what are we gaining for playing Rank now? Is it just to only boost your MMR or something?

While you wont get a reward if you advance further (till next season) you can potentially get yourself a better spot in placements based on your rank.
EX: you win 5 lose 5 as gold V and get put into silver 1. Do the same thing in gold 2 or gold 3 and you will likely be gold still
Seasonal MMR resets use your existing MMR to calculate your new one. They're soft resets, not full resets. Also, some people want to stay in competitive practice.
