Why I no longer buy RP

A bit about me: I'm not good at money and I have a pretty intense fan-boy complex with anything I get even a little in-to, which is why it was no surprise to me when I recalled all my purchases and realised I had spent over 2000$ on league. For a University student who is slowly getting overwhelmed by debts that's a bit more than I maybe should've spent but I don't regret it a whole lot. Part of me even had this intense fantasy that maybe riot would see that I spend more than the average joe (judging from anyone I know) and start contacting me, mostly to get me to spend more money but mobile games do that sometimes where they fake add you on facebook and ask you about what you like. A bit immature but I can dream, like I said, huge fanboy complex over here.

But my money spending came to a grinding halt one day when I realised that riot was no longer even trying. I still love the game and I don't hate riot or anything but I felt like someone had spit in my face. When Project skins first came out they weren't discounted. I thought this was a little shady but it was basically for the first strike thing. OK whatever they were discounted the next week but have you noticed? No other skin since then has been discounted. When I came to this realisation it pissed me off quite a bit. Then the "Early discounts" bullshit was announced. Like wtf. They were boasting about how now you can get skins that would usually never get discounted at a reduced price and even newer skins would get discounted sooner. Well you know what Riot? Ultimate/Legendary skins & new skins did get discounts, you know when? THE WEEK YOU RELEASED THEM. Now when a skin comes out it's full price. I suppose there is really no reason why Riot even has to discount anything. I mean if you don't want it don't buy it right? Exactly. That is why ever since that change was announced I haven't bought a single skin. Screw you and your greedy little paws. I'm sure the multi-million dollar company never felt my absence but I'm voting with my wallet and my wallet says "You used to be cool Rito"

They do early sales, which is better than what they used to do. Skins used to go on sale a year after they came out, now skins have early sales after about 1 month.

You already voted with your wallet when you spent $2000 on the game. I'm hesitant to agree that they're even being greedy, they've started to add things like hextech crafting lately to let people get skins for free. If Riot was truly greedy that wouldn't have happened, or at least it would be considerably more difficult to actually get anything from it, something like rerolling 5 shards for a skin instead of 3. Besides, it's hardly immoral for a business to try to make money, that's kinda the reason they exist.

just some friendly advice while you are in school try to take classes on money management and personal finance

It's a free to play game that has to maintain servers and pay people to manage all the millions of people playing as well as pay people to make new assets for the game so that it stay relevant. You make the decision to spend the money. If you choose not to, that's on you. That's how you voice your opinion. If you buy something, it's probably because you like it, if you don't, maybe not.

There's nothing wrong with a company using tactics to make money. That's their whole point after all.
