Sorry to be that guy, but Riot's nowhere near what EA is doing when it comes to micro-transactions. You can still play league of legends without paying a cent the entire time. Yes, the new Blue Essence needs some work, but I will point out the obvious fact: it is still preseason. Riot is still tweaking things in preparation for Season 8, so just wait a month or so, and Riot will probably fix the system to something more tolerable.
This is turning into an over-exaggerated witch hunt at this point. In EA's case they are price gouging people for what they have to pay for. In leagues case its just people complaining that they cant get free stuff as fast as they used to.

If Riot mimicked EA's marketing, every patch update would be labeled as an "expansion pack" and would cost money.
Every 5 or 6 years we would get a new installment of League. "League of Legends 2", "League of Legends 3", and so on. All of which will be pay-to-play.
Not to mention that all the champions will be RP only.

As someone who knows the essence reduction rates are actually bullshit, it's still better than the absolute 0 + 1 victorious skin a year we used to have.

Of course Riot aren't nowhere near EA at this point. The worrying part is that EA's nasty name is popping in the conversation at all. That should be telling enough about how people feel about Riot's recent practices.
