Found it browsing funnyjunk one day. Doesn't appear to have a proper source. The oldest known instance of this picture was posted in 2010 on flickr. Whenever it's a part of a larger picture or a standalone creation remains to be determined.

Birds raising young in nest-boxes and tree hollows are naturally surrounded by their own waste. It smells for sure, but that is a natural circumstance and condition. I don't know just how much the droppings adversely affect the nestlings but they must have enough tolerance since poo and bacteria are around them from day one. The two smaller nestling owls seem close to fledgling, so this is the most amount of poo they'll ever see before they leave the nest! Anivia

Wait, don't barn owls regurgitate pellets instead of poo? If that is the case, I'm pretty sure pellets are more sanitary than poo, 'cuz they're drier. So they're in an even better living condition than we thought!

They Regurgitate the parts they can't digest, such as the fur and Bones. They still poop.

Really? They actually do that, interesting! I guess this is more the exception than the norm then? That a tiny nestling learns to hop on to the nest box entrance, poo and return without harm despite not having fully developed wings! I used to check up on crimson rosella next boxes and they surely poo everywhere, reeking of ammonia with up to 8 chicks.

Ummm no, but some owls carry their young around until they go to the bathroom(generally only smaller nested ones, and it's uncommon), and I wasn't talking about the babies.
