Tbh, I'm kinda glad they decided to stop balancing him around spell vamp. While WotA isn't necessarily a bad item stat wise, so many times when I was thinking of how should I build Vlad, I would stop mid-way to think to myself: "shit, I have to leave item slot for WotA". Vladimir could be played without WotA, but it isn't as efficient right now as building it. But now, yeah, one more slot for another great item, I like that deal. If rework will be good, I won't miss WotA.

i dunooo man, seems to me a build path just got removed, it wasnt just Vlad that used this item

you could just be like Cassiopeia and stop buying a hat akaitem 1001

Removing spell vamp ~ probably Vlad's sustain buff? If that's a yes then f yeahhhhhh

Over Innsmouth2 votes

I'm reading it as they'll just make his sustain as good as it was with spellvamp, you just won't have to invest in the item to begin with.

Rushing SV, Abyssal or Zhonyas as Vlad whilst having strong sustain? Fuck yeah boys.

JayHog19921 votes

They're planning to buff him for that, so it might be a win-win for them, maybe...

Myrddin1 votes

honestly it just makes it so he buys hextech since they are leaving the omni vamp on it

It makes his build really really awkward from the sound of it

Big Lincoln5 votes

or he has better self sustain and won't need more than a visage to boost it

now that he isn't tied to revolver he can have more power in his kit

Myrddin1 votes

Lets say he does, hextech with omni vamp would then make it even better and make him neigh unkillable

Replacing one gated slot with another

That would be nice, but against a full AD team, he'll be out of options. (even item 3157's getting nerfed, although you'll probably still build it anyway) You cant build a full MR item against a full ad team, and in a meta with adc's in every lane, its definitely not enough. In a lot of games I've taken to buying item 3742 and item 3143 because there is only one ap-armor item.

Big Lincoln2 votes

Well, it depends on what AD champions they have. Not all of them are purely physical damage. Corki Shyvana Jax have a lot of magic damage in their kits, for example.

It's also worth mentioning that Vladimir will probably have heavily improved self-sustain now that he doesn't have Revolver to be forced into buying on top of Executioner's existing as it does, so I feel like they'll be able to make him work.

Zhonya's is also having its armor untouched at the moment. I agree that we should have another AP/armor item to combat ADCs being able to get both Maw and Mercurial, but there are always the raw tank options since Vladimir will still benefit just by virtue of the EHP they'll give him, and his passive will probably still be around, if not better than it is now.

Nah, if anything he's going to be stronger after the patch. They're going to buff all of his native regeneration so that he doesn't need the spell vamp. That will open up all kinds of new options and dynamics for him. I don't play him much currently, but I expect him to be very strong post patch.

They also mentioned increasing his health cost risks.

I think his passive will likely have innate spell vamp

ImmortalBloodCY1 votes

Maybe they will add, maybe they wont.

We will have to wait and see.

Kitty Darkstar1 votes

It'll probably be scaling so he doesn't start off too strong. Or maybe it'll be based off his AP.

ImmortalBloodCY1 votes

Something like Akalis passive?

Kitty Darkstar1 votes

Yeah, maybe. Only maybe a bit stronger and maybe not his actual passive, but a passive on one of his abilities.

ImmortalBloodCY1 votes

Transfusion would be a good place to put the passive.

Kitty Darkstar2 votes

Yeah, that would make the most sense. In that case it would likely scale with level instead of AP, since people (or maybe just me) already level Q first on Vlad.

ImmortalBloodCY1 votes

Scale it with level of the Skill[Best solution] or the lvl of the player[Not so good solution but good enough].(Definitely not with AP as that... would be broken)

And make it max of 25% spell vamp or more/less depending on testing.(You gotta test it in order to find the right number to cap it)

I don't care if they remove WotA, as long as I can play my favorite blood sucker in top and build him in similar ways. I just really hope they don't fuck around with his general kit too much.

TTUPhoenix1 votes

I would guess that they're going to do something similar to Morde, where most of his abilities cost hp except for one which is specifically designed as a source of sustain.

kaltenashes1 votes

Akali i guess she'll be just a tank now

Troll for Trump1 votes

Idk man, those Hextech Rockets seem awfully good on him.

Solari Fortune1 votes

I think Riot said only Items are losing Spell Vamp, champs like Morg Akali and Vlad (Until rework prob) Would keep their own spell vamp

Aír1 votes

I just meant in the sense of how important WotA was on him. But I feel like the above was Vlad main's first reaction when hearing about the spellvamp loss there.

item 3070 Karthus Azir Swain Mordekaiser (to a degree) Ryze item 3070... I'd list some others... but I don't think there is very much sympathy for them >_>

speaking of changes though...

item 3070 Tear of the Goddess

  • Mana Regeneration: 25% --> 0%
  • Additional Passive - Awe: Refunds 25% of Mana spent

item 3070 item 3070 item 3070

I suspect that Vlad will end up buying item 3146 "omni-vamp" instead.

Or you know he may not need it because of the buffs he'll be getting with spellvamp removed from the game, and spirit visage bonus to all healing increased.
