Never stop stacking, this is the key to become a Nasus master.
That's not to say don't help your team, by all means do, but never stop stacking. Even if you're running through team fights, dedicate a Q to a stray minion or monster for some Stacks-on-the-Go!
Im helping with stacks 
You can stack while helping your team. A Nasus that sacrifices his stacks to "help" will end up being useless anyway by either being a mediocre tank that doesn't do enough damage to be a threat or a mediocre bruiser that does decent damage but dies too quickly.
In my opinion, "helping" your team doesn't need to mean getting involved in the teamfights (which vs certain comps, Nasus sucks at anyway). Helping can also involve staying top and farming, while sending a message to your enemies that "If you don't come and stop me you're gonna lose turrets, inhibs, and eventually your nexus". The catch 22 of this is, they either send their strongest team member to stop you (good for your team) or send 2 people to stop you (good for your team).

It's especially funny when it comes from the jungler who didn't lift a finger when Nasus was getting turret dived over and over during laning phase.

I just report him for afking and intent feeding then move onto the next game and hope I don't get another nasus cause I am going to have to report also.
