Gold 5's a bit crazy, but that's just due to the fact that everyone there feels like they've made it and that they can troll now... Silver 1 is much better because everyone is try-harding to hit that Gold rank.

Except if you're high silver I you start playing w/ low gold players who may be apathetic and so then you have to carry the gold V players to get into it yourself.

True enough, but generally you'll only have 1 or 2 Golds (unless you're in promos, then it'll be nearly all Golds), so 3-4 people have a much higher chance of being able to carry that apathetic Gold player. Honestly, I haven't run in to many players who just seriously don't care... It seems most people want to win, regardless of division.

Yeah, if you aren't at the top of Silver I you probably don't hit that as often, and players who really don't care drop to mid silver mmr usually. I suppose I more meant that some players (myself included) open up a little more leeway in their picks/role preferences when they hit gold V. After my second failed promo series to gold 4 I decided I wanted to get back into jungle and just learn something new again and have fun bc it was feeling like more of a grind than fun. After a season worth of climbing as mid/top, I was much stronger in those roles than jungle but started asking for jungle instead, so I know people had to carry me more than if I was playing mid/top. It's not like "fuck it, I don't want to win" but rather more like "if I lose I'm not gonna be quite upset so maybe I can play my A or B+ tier instead of S tier for ranked games now."

Not really, just low gold MMR. When I hit gold V I was matched mostly w/ gold IV+ players bc my MMR was higher after promos. After role swapping I'm down to playing pretty exclusively w/ silver I and gold V players, but if I improve enough to be mid/high gold V then I wouldn't be playing w/ silver I players much any more. It's just gold V 0-maybe 50 LP that is a pain right now, not all of gold V.

Gold V+ is top 30% of the ladder if I remember right and plat is like top 5% I think so that % goes up really fast if you actually climb in gold.
