I don't smurf, I just go on losing streaks and eventually face less-skilled opponents.
Don't forget streamers.
They easily make it into diamond but smurf in silver so they can faceroll on the keyboard and destroy noobs blindfolded just so they look good and have people complement them.
Some people are attention whores and desperately crave the fans. But careful if you kill a surfing diamond streamer, people will spam message you calling you "Try hard kid", "No life smurfing fk", ect.
People are taking the analogy as a metaphor.
They play against players they know they can beat so that they feel like they're accomplishing something when in reality they're not.
I don't think I am stupid just a little less experience than high elo players. So, I don't think that is true. They do not play against stupid people. They are playing against less experience people. Some of them just want to be better and climb where those smurf main account is.
But mostly, I just want to have fun playing this game in my free time. ^^

Another reason is that you can use sword of the occult and get 20 stacks every time lol. Silver elo players are like advanced intermediate bots.

I surf for 2 reasons,
Practice new champions
I am stuck between Plat 4-5, so playing lower elo is fun when you don't care about lp
Then you realize smurfing is actually about finding where you truly belong for most people.
The only reason why I won my first game ever vs god like challenger players was because my teamates were also god like challenger players.
I started smurfing recently, and I honestly find that the quality of my opponents rises at a far greater rate than the quality of my teams as I move up through the ranks. I've been smurfing in Gold and Plat as a diamond player and the teams honestly feel no different than diamond teams I get on my main account, but the enemies definitely aren't as good. It's just less stressful. It's not like I'm dominating these games either; I'm playing just to play and practice champs I don't normally play.
I feel worse now that I'm in plat than I did in silver.
In silver I carried games.
In plat I'm in tryhard mode all the time and each games is a challenge.

I have a smurf (I shouldn't have one since I'm still learning the game after 2 years or so)
The smurf is indeed to play with lower levels BUT this time I'm leveling that account at a slower pace and learning the basics again. Cause I may be better than some complete newbies but not good as an everyday LoL normie.
Also I don't do ranked on that account, nor am I thinking of doing it. Ranked is prettty scary.
I get suspended/banned too much not to smurf.
