I agree that "Yorick" needs a new skin. Riot, on the other hand, seems to believe otherwise.
From Rito's perspective (some direct quotes, other my own conjecture):
- The champion called "Yorick" was released in September 2016, not June 22, 2011 (which is 5 years, 9 months and 18 days from the day this message was posted, not that anyone's counting).
- It's too much work to make a skin for Yorick. There's a mantra about "too many models and particles" plus general ambivalence about the champion and disdain about Yorick players being "hipsters" and "only interested in Yorick because he's unpopular."
- Yorick is, allegedly, too difficult a champion to fit into the various skin themes Riot maintains. This is also, allegedly, one of the most creative teams in the video games industry. Still, the problem has to be the champion and not the department, right?.
- Yorick is a difficult champion to sell to players, which means the eCommerce team just doesn't want to do any real work.
- There are some lingering feelings against Yorick, which isn't surprising since the original champion was put in the dumpster for many years.
Now, to fully answer the OP:
- Is Riot going to make a Yorick skin? Yes, they will.
- Is it coming Soon™? I have no idea, but that leak posted on Reddit seems say "no."
- Will Yorick's new skin be worth a nearly 6-year wait? It couldn't possibly be. Unless we're talking about a Legendary-level, serious skin (not Cat Lady) that's released at 975 RP along with a personal, direct apology from the company, it couldn't possibly be worth the wait.
- Will it be a "cheap" 750 RP skin, just so they can stop the "Yorick Skin where" memes? Unless it's a blue-armored "Warden Yorick" with a proper spade that jumps, I sure as hell hope not. THAT would just prove every bit of the above nonsense true.
