Define "easy"

Just because someone is mechanically simple like Garen, doesn't mean you can give up your game sense, its very very possible to feed as Garen

I also see people silence minions and spin to farm and never trade and wonder "wtf how did I die" when they go vs someone they supposedly counter like Riven or Yasuo who actually knows what they're doing and capitalize on the cooldowns

Yeah, I've seen it, makes me real sad when someone playing Garen for like the 2nd time gets rekt because they are clueless

Yes but to trade in lane you press q walk up to them, bitch slap them then press e and laugh while their health drops and they cant do anything because they are silenced. Also you should be required to maintain some for of mechanics regardless of the champion or role you play.

Riven is easy the way Yasuo is easy. They both have tool to absolutely dominate a game, but so many players absolutely suck with them, that they can't do it.

People see the yasuo and riven players that have taken the hours to learn them in and out, and see them winning 1v5 "easily". It's really that those players have gotten to a skill level where they make it look easy.

It's just practice. They're the type of champions that, unless you're already really good at the game (and even if you are), you have to invest a lot of time into them to succeed, at least compared to most other champions.

I've tried practicing but I always seem to feed terribly in lane.... unless I'm playing a bot game, but I think I've gotten all the practice I can out of those.

Whenever I'm trying to learn a new champion, I just look up a VoD of a high level player I respect to get a sense of how the champion works (typically, for Jungle it was DanDy, I also watch NB3's stream a lot, especially since he plays pretty much everything; Mid lane is Faker, not only because he's good but also because he plays everything; ADC is Deft; Support is tricky since most support players don't stream, and third parties often don't record their games, but Aphromoo and Krepo are popular streamers, I also like Wolf; I don't really play top, but I guess I'd look for MaRin or Huni or someone. Also just watching LS's coaching videos are immensely helpful)

I find bot games are still good practice for me, but you have to treat them as real games (or as much as you can; I see people just going for cheese kills on bots and snowballing, and there really isn't much practice value in that, since that's never going to happen in a real game). They're a good, semi-controlled environment where you can also get a guaranteed first win bonus. The only drawback is you can't really practice top lane; you'll have to load into a custom with 3 bots so one goes to each lane

It's terrible though because it takes agency away from the opponent, when you're playing against a Riven or Yasuo it usually comes down to "I hope this one is bad" because if they aren't, they will make your life a living hell, and if they are, they'll just feed constantly.

Taking agency away from -2- players and giving it entirely to -1- player is toxic design.

This is so true. Fact of the matter is that Yasuo is just too damn strong in the right hands. I've been learning him and now it's almost too easy to stomp every single game in Bronze

I hate her guts but after trying her recently I can understand how she doesn't stomp everyone she comes across. those base stats are so horrid that she almost needs her abilities to be as OP as they are to be good. I don't think she takes as much skill as people say she does (I managed to accomplish more with her at lvl 2 then with my main at lvl 5), but she definitely needs a good understanding of her mechanics.

About halfway through leveling up to 30, I started playing Riven. Up until then, I was playing only Garen, and playing Riven was like taking the training wheels off my bicycle. I failed so many times, it was unbelievable how bad I was. After a couple dozen games, I started getting the hang of her, but I never have been able to master all her tricks. Even to this day, I can't do animation cancelling right. All I can do is to remember to auto-attack between each ability.

When I played Riven it seemed like there was never really a bad time to hit any particular button. Like seriously, be it waveclearing, escaping a gank, or trading, there was never really a bad time to use Q W or E, and I'd usually use all three because hey, it's not like it costs mana. Hardest part was remembering to use your ultimate when your going in for the kill... duh.

But then again I'm only hard on Riven because my weeb friend insists she's the epitome of skillcap, which ticks me off to no end, but then again I think everyone is entitled to think that of their main...

good players will capitalize on it though. For example, when I play against riven, I always watch he for when she uses her skills. Based on when and what skills she used, I choose whether to engage, or to stand a bit away.

So if you used your shield to get close to the wave and your w to clear minions, i would immediately engage to get some harass on you, and then let you use q to chase me away, and then hard engage to kill you

Yi is actually pretty hard in pretty much every sense EXCEPT mechanically. You have to be pretty spot-on with when to go in, who to go for, what to watch out for, etc. Or you can build Bruiser Yi and fuck people over and not die in a hurry because... That exists.

Yi isn't exactly easy. He sure as hell isn't hard to play, but he has a deceptively high skill ceiling

Pretty much this. While yi does not require good mechanics, he does require alot of game knowledge to be played extremely well
