When you play support; it's a bit awkward killing the enemy with your crowd control, when you're just attempting to leave them vulnerable for your carry. But on the other hand, it's a secured kill :D

i dont really need kills to carry a team as support but it does help

I am so lucky that my team was made up of good sports who responded to those instances with "Da Hooks!!!"
they should just get good by playing against the enemy team and their own support for kills.
I get some enjoyment getting a kill from Wbb and flow. I remember one where my adc was chasing a Miss Fortune, and trailing along. My adc was about to die and I knew MF would try and walk back to get the kill. They were at it for awhile and I come up the last mintue not thinking about the enemy health but went to heal my adc and took the kill instead. Didn't even notice till my adc only replied with ... Then just started laughing.

(the best supp i ever played), and i got a lot of kill with her...sorry but if you want gold, learn to last hit properly =D
