Riot claims they want to promote fun interactions. Then why are they doing THE OPPOSITE

Hey everybody how's it going? Over the past 3 or so years Riot has made increasing numbers of champions with kits so overloaded and unhealthy for the game. Now several champions before that were considered to have unfun kits, such as Diana, Yasuo, fuck even old Katarina had a pretty unhealthy kit if you've been around for a bit and remember that. One example I want to use for this entire thing is Akali. Now it's no secret that Akali is one of the worst designed reworks in the entire game, has a kit that is aids to fight with her hyper mobility and her stickiness in catching people out. But I also wanna touch on pre-rework Akali. If you remember pre rework Akali her kit was similar to Diana where in a way she could Dash with R and even if she was 1-5 she had crazy scaling that made her kit really annoying to play against, but not necessarily impossible, it had SOME counterplay(take that as it may be).

For reference about where I'm going next here's a screenshot from last years January Riot plz of Akali's rework and their agendas for the rework. https://imgur.com/cZVPVkt In this they claim that she had a hard time laning against most modern champions in the middle lane. Which is true, the Akali had to basically hit level 6 before she was really a champion, she also needed a gunblade to really hit that spike. What really bothers me is how they did this. Akali now is able to do all of this a bit too well, even with the nerfs that were hit with her every fucking patch. Many agree that pre rework Akali's kit wasn't super fun to play against after she really came online, similar to Diana she would Q and then R you and take away half your hp in one blow. Yes that's not fun, and even though they don't mention it in the rework roadmap, Riot knew this fact for sure as she was an old ass champion. Making a champion more fun to play against and making the champ more interactive in lane phase is what makes a good rework. And Riot...did none of this(and this goes for pretty much all reworks with the exception of Swain and like 1/2 of Nunu). Akali when she was released became so uninteractive even the turrets didnt want to hit her. She healed from a very low cd ability, she could dash away if ganked, she had an execute, and also a stun, she had insane scaling AND STILL DOES. The problem is while a majority of what I listed(The stun, the healing and the obscurance) has been removed in the past year shes been out, shes still unfun to fight.

My favorite reworks are Sion and Warwick. You know why? Because they're fun in the right hands but have counterplay. Warwick has to snowball early game to stay more relevant late otherwise he just becomes a meat shield that gets bursted down in fights if he's unwise with his ulti. Sion is super fun to trade against and even when I lose against him I still had fun. All these new champs and reworks at their core are unfun in their design with their incredible damage. You ever noticed how the champions that have come out in the past 2 years have been complained about the most? Pyke, Kaisa. Akali, Aatrox, Irelia, and A little bit of Sylas. All those champions are talked more than most on these boards and for good reason. Because they offer little counterplay, interaction, and fun.

Most changes they make are now centered around pro play and esports. It's not surprising

If only Riot knew what counter-play was :(

Akali shroud has counterplay, and a lot more than her previous version, but its true that most champs after Illaoi were designed EXCLUSIVELY for eSports and then, surprise surprise, broken and pickban but garbage in solo Queue. And instead of fixing the problem (Akali ult having two free dashes, Galio/Kench/Shen/Ryze ults dependent on teammates and map awareness) they nerf everything including the problem without ever taking the problem actually away.

Galio cant be good or his R makes him high priority for pro. Ryze cant have a good lane phase in normal gameplay or hes an unstoppable god in pro but his ult does literally nothing outside of 5v5 teams with good communication. Bronzies cant use it for fights so Ryze will always be bad. Etc ~~~~

Riot seems to be confusing "interactive and exciting" with "none or little counterplay"

Diana and Akali were traditional carries, in that you had to stop them before they stopped you or have an answer. But the thing is there were plenty of champs who could easily stop them dead in there tracks, which kept the game fun. You knew when you went in with old Akali that you were taking that risk, and there might be a rewarding pay-off. On the other side you could avoid a lot of stress and have fun punishing the risky pick with a champ like Lissandra or pre-rework Swain. Now that there is so many high pay-off champs whose risk is only the players' ability, it leaves a pretty miserable experience.

There are not fun parts of a game like this, but usually the not fun comes from player choice or time. In that if you pick risky and/or get counter picked it used to be mostly your own fault for not being able to play a safer champ. Also as carries get online in any moba it is not fun dying to them because they are stronger, but that is there inevitable role in the game. A lot of the in between should be getting there beyond just marksmen. That means play making, map reading, and creating room for farming. The more tools you have the less you carry. Old Aatrox only did one thing, same with Diana or old Akali.

tl;dr Assassins as the highest-reward champs (can carry early) in the game have to be weak early, and plenty of reverts are needed. The ability to outplay means you have tools that that should should account for more in power budgets and therefore limit their damage. Mechanically challenging champs do too much, with too much damage and dominate the entire experience. Even really good players like to play a lot of different champs. Some pros like Nocturne, Zed, and Morgana.

I used to main old akali, and for sure the perfect set up was recalling just before you hit level 5 so you could surprise them at 6 with your damage. Now, almost every champion does this. How is this any less fun than a karthus pressing ult and taking 1500 of your 2200 health bar that you can't stop with cc because he's untargetable. Or the fact that Zoe can do the exact same thing, but better because she has a very long hard cc that increases the damage she does with her nuke. Akali was the nuke, and it's either you went in and got a penta, or you most often died trying.

I hate to admit it, but akali was really strong if you got ahead, but if you played any sort of champion that was strong early game, akali wasn't even a champion until rageblade, which is a very long time if you can just poke her down and force her off farm, which was incredibly easy to do.

She is a lot like the current katarina, except I believe the current katarina is stronger because she can team wipe without needing to be very fed, and her early game isn't as horrid as akali's was.

Please riot if you are listening, revert akali. But keep the look because she's the hottest champ in league don't @ me.

well honestly, I think Sylas is muh healthier than Sion full lethality but still tankeir than anyone in your team.

Maybe I’m just a masochist, but I actually enjoy laning against Akali. The only champ who I don’t get to interact with is Kayle. And that’s just because good Kayle players just sit back and soak XP.

I think Akali Shroud or something close to it could be good on a defensive tank allowing them to zone the enemy team without the enemy team being able to easily damage them of course if they don't have a team around it won't really do much as yes they could punish with CC but if there aren't allies around they wouldn't be likely to burst anyone (and there is a lot of interesting utility you can place on it... effect on allies being in the AoE... effect on enemies being in the AoE... buffs on entering/leaving the AoE or on entering/leaving stealth for the tank)

Though even on a tank who can't just blow you up from the shroud I could see it still ending up being somewhat annoying to deal with

Akali as she currently is.... is able to play aggressively like a fighter while still having the burst and mobility of assassin.... but it is very difficult to change without just nerfing her into the ground because of the way her kit is

Then why are they doing THE OPPOSITE

Because Riot wants you to rage so hard you kill your family and then go on a mass shooting.

You people don't realize it but this game is a psychological weapon being used for the leftist party. Just like Overwatch, fortnite, Apex, or any other "competitive" "game". They're all riddled with leftist agendas. And are a tool to oppress and keep you in control. They have you right were they want you. In your room wasting away while they brain wash you. And taking your money.

i mean if you have a product that people complain about for 2 years now, would you say "fuck you all we wont change a thing and actually do the exact opposite"? ofc not, even if you know you will do the opposite, youd still say you listen and will change it lol.
