When TF players get pulled over IRL

There's a hand size limit, so if you have way too many cards in your hand you shouldn't use it. There are also trap cards that activate upon using a magic card, I think? But in general, nope.

Not really, unless you are worried about your hand size overdrawing or if you have a specific card that works based upon how many spells you have casted in one turn, but those are rare.

It was actually banned from competitive play. Just Google why. I'm no authority on Yu-Gi-Oh!, so I'm not really one to explain it.

the card limit is 7 cards unless you have a card that says otherwise on the field. also pot of greed is limited in tournament play to 1 card. it might even be fully banned now since there are so many cards in yugioh that benefit from it.

other than that though if you're playing legacy games or just for fun games then you can have up to 4 of them and since they're magic cards the counterplay to them is very limited

only quickplay cards that counter spell cards or certain effect monster abilities can counter it.

some deck use them to offload cards into the graveyard on their first turn since you draw max hand size in yugioh regardless of who goes first which cant be countered.

in yugioh you can have 40-60 cards in your deck so if you're using a low end count deck and you have a lot of draw cards you can actually lose by drawing too many cards. if you dont have a card to draw when you're required to draw a card you lose in 99% of situations. however there is one incident i think where whoever draws their last card first wins, but that's another card that i think is banned. most instant win cards are banned after a few months of their release.

if your opponent has trap cards (the pink spell cards) placed they can activate them during your turn. some of those trap cards are specifically designed to destroy spell cards and some even come with an "and x" feature that allows you to really chew away at your opponent if their decks are heavily orientated towards spell card abuse.

there are also cards that punish players with lots of cards in their hands.

and cards that punish players for drawing and so on.

yugioh is a game about card chaining and very different from magic the gathering or other card games like pokemon and digimon. in most card games you can win without card chaining, but in yugioh you'll never win if you dont turn your possible 7 max actions into 10 or more. most of yugioh decks are focused on preventing your opponents chaining or chaining through your opponents counters.

The pot of greed spell card is both I believe banned in competitive for being a brainless draw card, and a meme because apparently every single time they played it in the anime, they HAD to explain what it did.
