Captchas have an interesting history. Once upon a time, some people were trying to make a program that can read handwriting and put it into a document as text (called OCR or something). Obviously, the computer itself cant read your handwriting, it looks like some random picture to the computer and doesn't know what a written "p" is supposed to be. So what one guy tried to do is create a system where all of us would read the handwriting for the computer, and that way, there might eventually be a system where the computer would be able to read every single handwriting ever.

Now they use it to prove your not a robot, but I also came upon one that was like a street sign, so I just put in gibberish cause lazy, and voila, I got in
