Because Cigar's are outlawed in some of the Country's that play league, so they'd ban league all together in that country :/

The way I understood it was having "core" content that depicted tobacco use was cutting things to close to advertising tobacco products to minors. Skins and content outside the content are, to the best of my knowledge, outside the "core" of League.

Where did this fixation on a cigar for Graves come from anyway? His old splash art didn't have one, and if champions should have everything they have in cinematics then Teemo should run around with his eyes wide open and have some sort of jumping move.

For starters, it's freaking awesome. It's totally fitting of his character to smoke a cigar.

Secondly, Riot made the art and put it on the PBE, then changed it. To those who would complain, that's blatant censorship, and it seems completely unnecessary.

And your argument about skins is irrelevant. Gragas carries around a giant tub of ale, all of his quotes are references to being drunk, he gets stronger by getting drunk, his W is literally called "Drunken Rage" and Gragas is pick or ban in the LCS so he has much more visibility than Graves.

It's just dumb. It's robbing us of a thematic that so many people thought was cool. For seemingly no reason.

Since when is alcohol a type of tobacco? The legal complications were about the sale of tobacco, not the sale of alcohol. If there were a similar situation to arise, Riot would likely take the ramifications in that region, since Gragas's kit is based around alcohol.

I still don't see the cigars being "freaking awesome" or "fitting". Honestly, he looks like he drops about 20 IQ points with the cigar, and I prefer Graves to look like someone cunning enough to keep up with TF.

Yes, but here's the thing. The question I was responding to was "why this all started". All of these reasons are the reasons people want to see Graves with a cigar. I wasn't attempting to prove or defend any of them, I was delivering the information.

You may not think alcohol has anything to do with tobacco, but those who argue for the cigar do. You may not think the cigar is awesome or thematic, but those who argue for the cigar do.

Graves' identity is his giant mofo shotgun/cannon and his quest of ending Twisted Fate.

Because it would make sense for Graves to have a cigar doesn't mean he has to have one. He was designed without cigars, there is no reason to give him one out of the blue, this is not censorship, but merely staying true to the character.

Gragas Esq. is not a requirement; if you don't like the cigar in the skin, don't get it. Graves, however, has no cigars because it's his default skin. If he's free-to-play, then people can play him without getting offended by the cigar or something like that. Because Gragas Esq. is a skin, he gets a cigar because it's not a requirement to have the skin.

Why would anyone want a cigar that has been damned by god? Why not give graves a regular cigar? Nobody wants a damned one.

It's milk that Yasuo is drinking.

So unless Graves is smoking lollipops I doubt Riot would give him back his tobacco.

But really, the reason why they took the cigar away from Graves was that he has absolutely nothing to do with them in the first place, besides a skin that is seen smoking, and ofc A New Dawn portrayed him with one.

Graves was originally designed without the cigar in place, that's why they only removed it from his Classic.

Dunno why people still harp on about it atm.
