There's a difference between a risky and a reliable decision.
Picking up a big-ticket AP item? Reliable. Picking up Mejai's? Risky. The reasoning should be rather obvious there.
The problem with tower diving is that every unknown variable will be compounded by the fact that you're taking damage from a turret.
Play smart. Know your enemy. Know your limits.
