Welp, I could give a long winded answer but I am quite tired.

The short answer is that the prequels had better trained Jedi who actually knew at least one of the 7 forms of lightsaber combat. Their movements are more fluid thanks to their training regiment since kids.

Now the lightsaber duels in Rebels through 7 are more raw and unstylized due to the loss of the knowledge of the forms of lightsaber combat. They have to essentially fashion new styles.

I did watch that Rebels' episode.

While blades do attract themselves like magnets, none of the rest is correct. Everything else is getting used to handling a fundamentally weightless, especially for a person proficient in conventional weapons. Like driving 16-wheelers your whole life, then switching to a Smart-like car overnight.

For example it's still completely possible for blades to "slide" if you apply force equal and opposite to magnetic attraction, as showcased durning Kenobi's duel with Grievous in the third prequel movie, when he cut off one of Griveous hands while blades were "locked".

It's sad when a full-budget movie team is cranking out movies in a year of lesser quality than tv episodes made in a month
