It only really has any kind of merit in games that don't have any stakes ala normals/blinds, but even then its flimsy and clear indication of the amount of salty that person is.

The only games you don't play to win are ones where you play with pals or family members where the experience of the game defines the enjoyment and not the game itself though it can help. That's why people play games like mario party despite the fact that those types of games are as balanced as The US budget.

imho regardless the game mode it's disrespectful, both to your team and your opponent, not to always try your hardest

I hate when I want to test if I'm good enough on a champ in normals to play them in ranked and I run into an opponent "testing the limits" of a champ who arent even trying because "just a normal"

tryharding can be disrespectful also, i just faced a gnar top as ahri in a normal the dude was clicking so hard on his mouse i could actualy hear the click for miles away trying so hard to dodge everything i try to land, not only that but flashing into my tower range to try to kill me, he also asked his jungler to camp me like 24-7 i mean .... let a fucking player breath its a totaly frustrating experience and also the try hard guy is taunting me in all chat i had to mute him (most tryhards do taunt peoples as hard as they try) meanwhile my jungler told me to ward myself.

tryharder are lil unconfident peoples who try so hard to boost thier ONLINE EGO.

To quote the greatest football coach of all time on running up the score: "When you’re playing defense it’s your job to stop them. It’s not the offense’s job to not score. It’s like I tell the offense, what the fuck do you think I send you guys out there for? To punt? We have a punt team for that. That’s not your job. Your job is to go out there and score points. If you come off the field and you haven’t scored points you haven’t done your job."

It's your job to stop me, not my job to stop trying. You come out of the fountain, I'm going to try and kill you, take objectives, and win the game. If you can't stop that, why should I?

First, you didn't answer the question. What is disrespectful about trying to win?

Second, I'm not saying you shouldn't have fun with the game, or that winning is the most important part of playing. But if you aren't going to put forward the effort to try and win, why are you playing against other people? League is a competitive game, even when you aren't playing ranked. That's the nature of playing games against other human beings. If you don't want to deal with people trying to win, why aren't you just playing bots?

Also, what is flawed about my argument? You don't have to be getting paid to put forward effort. You aren't going to get paid for most things in your life. Should you just not put any effort into anything other than your job? Because that is a terrible attitude to have.

The objective in a competitive game is to win, not do really well for 15 minutes and then give up. I assume you still want to win when you're behind, and you're still going to try, so why should your opponent not continue to try? And If you aren't even going to attempt to win any more, surrender or just sit in your base. Don't bitch because someone won't gift you the opportunity to get back into a game. It's not their job to win the game for you.

EDIT: Can anyone explain to me why I can't seem to get my gifs to work? Screw it. I'm not trying anymore. Ironically.

the real objective in video games is to have fun, which i can't get when i play versus bots, and still can't get when playing versus TRYHARDS.

and yes i am getting paid for most of the things i do in my life. i dunno about your country but in mine its called capitalism and it work perfectly.

i put alot of effort in your stuff than my work i also getting paid for most of them, not putting TRYHARDS LEVEL of effort in a video game mean you might be mentaly sane ... so now i belive you might be insane.. so yeah sorry for you.

The only way to tryhard is to ask a question in all chat and kill/ult the enemy while they are typing, I cant really remember any other way. Maybe killing the person who came back from 5/10 min dc counts?

Seeing this is memes and games I really shouldn't say anything as this does not belong here, but in my opinion there are three kinds of try hards. Those who try to win

Those who try too hard to win, raging at there team when things don't go there way, show unsportsmanlike conducts like bming after every kill. and trying to use underhanded tactics to win.

And those who try to to troll to the best of there abilities, or Troll Hards

You see the original term, Try Hard was used for multiplayer games and defines someone who would win at all costs, even to the extent of using underhanded techniques But not cheating to Win, forgoing any fun in a game. With a bunch of anonymous people playing one game like league it's hard to "Try Hard" unless you say, pretend to be friendly using all chat and then have your jungler surprise gank the enemy you fooled, that would be the technical term for Try Hard. Now The lines are blurring as people use it in another, less accurate way. Usually people use try hard because they think the person they are fighting is trying too hard and are being blinded by the salt.

Well those are my thoughts, and hopefully they were enlightening.

Yep, as another example in League (and one I see used) is asking someone a question and then ulting towards them as Ashe. That is try hard.

Ulting the guy who is behind whenever your ult is up because you are at the point you can kill them even under turret as Ashe is not try harding because you are not doing anything underhanded or doing anything against expectations.

Even killing the guy who DCed for 10 minutes and is super behind is not try harding. It isn't very good sportsmanship if he is just trying to farm, but it isn't try harding.

I think you're spot on. In school we would call the kids in gym class who would just get insanely competitive to the point where nobody could have fun and casually play for fun. They would treat a simple game of soccer as if it were a real competition for a scholarship. Those are tryhards.

Like a person can go all the fuck out in terms of trying to win and it's fine, but when they make it completely unfun and become toxic towards others, they're tryhards.

I find it sad you have to take a game, something meant for casual play and fun so serious. It's a video game. This isn't LCS, money isn't on the line, my entertainment and joy is.

Becoming toxic and angry over the mistakes other people make in the game is obnoxious. Win or lose I have fun.

Also you don't decide what aspects of the game are fun for other people. Some find fun in competition where others are happy just shooting off spells and abilities and spending time playing as fictional characters.

the game is meant for competitive play at every level of the game the casual side of this genre of videogames is that if you like to spend your casual time playing competitive games this is they type of game for you. This isn't lcs so i wont put any effort into it is how people don't get to get good enough for you to even consider yourself ever playing in a tournament none the less lcs. There is no being competitive to the point that it detracts from the fun of others because the fun is supposed to come from the competition in the game. if competition isn't for you this genre of game isn't for you. its not like doing what you know you should be doing takes extra effort.

That's like saying someone can't play a casual game of basketball without getting hyper competitive, or any sport for that matter. I have college, work, and family to worry about, that's where my effort is spent, not on a video game.

You also don't decide where the fun of a game comes from for other people. Some people play league for the immense number of champs, the lore, or because their friends play so they can have a good time.

I also see above you claim SR is a "field of war" according to the lore. But how bow dat, SR isn't even in the current lore buddy. The game and lore are currently separated. Shows how much you know about this game.

True riot retconned old lore but the setting for the game mode summoners rift is still there and thats what it is they already said the game and lore is separate so even if you follow the lore the game is still a setting of war.
