Laning against Riven in a nutshell.

I love it when I see a Garen ban in champ select. It's hilarious, as I know that there is going to be a Riven on the enemy team. It's so predictable. So I lock in Panth. There are two possibilities, a dodge, or an easy laning phase.

I play Singed against Riven all the time, and Riven players seem to think literally only Garen and maybe Poppy counter her so they always get cocky.

I enjoy the Riven vs. Singed matchup. Though, that's due to them being extremely cocky, like, even cockier than me. It's just, "Pff, bitch please. You tower diving me? Enjoy the 2 second root."

Though, I consider Singed a mental(psychological, if you want) counter, as there is a high chance that the Riven will actually know basic and use basic common sense not to go full ham on Singed under his tower, with ult running. The matchup, to me, at least, is all about being smarter and less predictable than the Riven, as she has some crazy kill-pressure if you telegraph everything. But, on the flip-side(kek), if they are predictable, you can quite easily avoid their damage, and fling them into a goo/poison trap. But, I love picking Pantheon because each Riven I play against goes ham right from the start, and if they grab Q first(which they always do), it's just free spears all laning phase until they get that E. Even then, just toss a spear at a minion near them, and they tend to panic E. After that, fuck em up while it's on cooldown. Once you get a big enough lead, the shield will do nothing against your spears.
