There was a time when they changed Grievous Wounds to affect self-healing only. Soraka instantly became absurdly busted. She is currently the sole thing dictating how Grievous Wounds functions, so no, it's not going to be removed any time soon.

Just wish EC didn't negate her in lane. It sucks playing as Soraka and being useless the enemy's first back. But there's also no worse feeling then being unable to kill the enemy because they have a Soraka and your ADC won't buy EC Easier just to ban her tbh. ;-;

I'd rather her be weak in her current state than oppressive.

Amen to the rework suggestion, I don't think a champion focused entirely on healing their teammates roughly every second at max rank/cdr can ever balanced so hopefully they give her some other utility.

Nami is a great example of healing done right.

No, of course not. I think they need to rework how GW and healing interact though like woah, because winning/losing based on whether the enemy team decided to make morello/mortal reminder or not feelsbadman.

That seems a lot more reasonable. I feel like outright getting rid of GW entirely and just balancing healing/sustain accordingly would be the best solution.

It's either GW is something you need to sacrifice damage to itemize for (which shouldn't happen) or GW is something really easy to itemize for (800g for executioners calling, GW slapped onto Morello which is core on a lot of mages)

A lot of people forget about Mundo and various other champions. I've always been of the opinion that Mundo has an inherently flawed design. He's more or less unkillable without GW, and if GW ever gets nerfed/removed he'll be pick/ban. Generally, I think healing in general is a bad thing for the game since it basically means you can do a ton of mistakes and the healing will make up for it. WoW PvP was/is plagued with overpowered self healing and the PvP was pretty much destroyed.

See, now, though, the change to self heal, not all healing. Now it affects all healing again, not just self healing. With it being changed to self healing only, Soraka became busted because she could heal so much with nothing to stop her. As of right now, Soraka's healing is the sole thing dictating how Grievous Wounds works. Other champs influence its existence, but Soraka's insane healing for other people is the sole thing keeping GW from being self heal only instead of all healing.

Grievous wounds doesn't really function as a mechanic the same way Veigar's old passive didn't function. Since he got extra mana regen from it, his mana costs had to be increased to compensate and it ended up not doing anything in the end. Since grievous wounds is so accessible and lowers healing, all the major heal champions have to get extra healing to compensate, and it ends up doing nothing.

Granted he isn't that strong in this meta, but still.

I have. A good Vlad will play safely enough that you shouldnt be able to kill him without a gank or a really strong early game Champ, but he isnt doing anything to you in lane unless you just _let _ him.
