u can't trade shoes in dota, idk why it was here.

but indeed, there are tranquil boots which heals you like warmog does, only out of combat.

well, they have managiving footwear too.

and footwear that swap stats.

and boots that give you ghost.

aaaand mobi boots. those remained, but those can teleport too.

Quite a variety, you'll find.

Tranquils are the healing boots. They give armor and tons of HP regen and movespeed while out of combat. (kind of Mobis on steroids)

Arcanes can be activated to give mana. Supports love these.

Phase Boots can be activated to give movespeed and move through units.

Power Treads are just basically stat boots. They can be toggled to give +9 STR, +9 AGI, or +9 INT.

Guardian Greaves build out of Arcanes + Mekansm. Their active gives armor, removes debuffs on the user (equiv. Strong Purge effect), and heals mana/HP in an AoE around you. Extremely expensive.

Boots of Travel lets you teleport to a friendly unit (~60s CD), and can be upgraded to target friendly heroes as well.

Boots in Dota 2 are far more interesting than in League, honestly. They do a lot more than just give a bit of stats (exception: Power Treads, which is literally just a stat item).

Different boots for a different game, all the items in dota are like that.

In LoL the concept around the game is that the items enhances what the character already does, so they have to be strict around active items. In DotA is more about high management.

Also DoTA has an item that allows anybody to super-flash given they haven't received damage for 3 seconds and an item that grants immunity to magic. So yeah.

in the 1 game that i've played of dota 2 i've only noticed that you can eat trees. i spent 40 minutes as Sniper buying the tree eating item and eating the entire map. i love dota 2
