This would've been funnier if he got Blitz-pulled out the window instead.
There is a real life article about how they fired a female working for riot because she complained about how there was going to be cuts to funding for events in league of legends during a meeting, she was told to shut up or get fired, she choose to get fired.
The point isn’t to go one step forward, one step back.
They wanted to give Blitz something new to play with. Reverting a buff isn’t always the answer (see Karma’s recent balance history)

Next they will nerf his MR. Then they will nerf his health. Then they will nerf his mana regen. Then they will revert the range buff. Then they won't touch him again for 3 years so overall we will have a blitzcrank with less armor, health, mr, mana regen, and still the same grab range as before and he will never be heard of again.
