I just looked in ryanchois match history (challenger) and foud that he went 19-7 as AP yi in ranked. So he dominated at a challenger level with it which means it must be back. Im thinking the lich bane changes have now made it possible, Hurrah ap yi has returned.

Sure go AP if you want, you're just shooting yourself in the foot as you'll have 0 damage outside of maybe lich bane.
This isn't even a cheese build, it's just bad.

Notice that ridiculously low amount of magic damage? Even if he was hoping on resets to use abilities and proc lich bane, he did a stupid low amount of damage with it.
I think I can see what he was hoping for with this by umping in, proc lich once or twice, heal while the rest of his team followed and then knock off mroe procs with the resets. But then what do you do? You're pretty useless at split pushing unless you can get a minion wave to proc lich once or twice.

I Shid And Kum1 votesThere's a good chance he was doing really well with standard yi, then randomly sold his items to go ap yi, he's done this several times with rengar that i've seen where he late game just sells everything and buys ap items. it would also explain why he lost.

I tried a game as ap yi and i was against zed/ really the only power point i had against him is when i got my sheen and i could do a bit of dmg. His heal works really well just like the old ap yi and Im thinking if you just went straight up ap tank with that insane heal you could tank turrets for dayz.
SIeightofHand1 votesAfter i read this i tried ap yi also but went with hextech first for maybe some extra proc from the active with ap ended up just going ad before finishing a lich bane.
what kira said was true compared to his other games where ryans got youmuus etc it was all over 200k physical dmg. and barely any magic. so ya he sold his items late game. And no one makes 18k plus and had less than 5 items so ya like i said above he sold his stuff for ap for the heck of it lol.
I thought about trying ap yi as a tank too but he brings no utility otherwise it be good maybe someday he will return. im hoping.
