What about Xerath?

Let me start with introduction.

I always thought that that the best way to reach an agreement in an argument is to place yourself in his/her shoes, so you can better understand their feelings. Let me give you an example who I and probably many fans of Xerath feel. Imagine you decided to buy a sports car. You came to the shop, picked Lamborghini, paid for it, but got Ferrari instead. It’s a good car, maybe it's even better in some aspects but it's not the car you paid for. Another example: one day I went to bed with my beautiful wife expecting to awake the next morning and see her by my side as it was for last 2 years. The next day I open my eyes, turn my head to wake her but the girl I see lying beside me is not my wife, but complete stranger. She is all cute and sexy, but she is not the woman I decided to spend my life with. All these examples are showing how I feel about Xerath "rework". I call this event "rework" because there is nothing left of good ol' Xerath in it. Change his name and you'll have a new champ. His kit, his role and even some of his emores were changed. As Xerath #1 fan I feel cheated and deprived. I know that reworks like that are unavertable, so I have an alternative to share with you, dear Riot, so we, Xerath fans could get the feeling that we are playing old Xerath again.

Let's start with the most important stuff.

  1. Bring his "power laning, power farming" joke back
  2. Revert the changes, made to his "lightning bolt" joke, or at least make it less squeaky. He is a powerful omniscient being, not a little girl from kindergarten.

Now it's time to talk about his kit and the ways it can be tuned so he would feel like the mage we knew.

Passive: Change it to scaling with levels magic pen. If you don’t like the constant magic penetration, I have an alternative. Here it is: if the enemies are hit by any of Xerath’s abilities, his next abilities will ignore some of enemies’ magic resist. In another words, it’s a magic resist shred but only for our beloved mage.

Q: Make the initial range 900 again; Speed up the charge time so it would equal old W>Q combo.

W: It's awesome, no complaints there. The cast time can be lowered a bit, but that's not necessary.

E: I think that's the main problem in his kit right now. My suggestions are: Make the orb fly faster or make it pass through minions. The third and probably the best way to make this ability fun and unique again is to rework it a bit and transform it into this: Xerath fires a high-speed (I don't mean that it should be very fast but much faster than the live one) projectile that will lose its speed the more enemies it encounters on its way.

R: With his new ultimate his teamfight potential was hurt in the nuts. It's a sniping tool now, not a big AoE Nuke. The sound effect is also a bit underwhelming. I say we make his ultimate more versatile. Imagine 2 circles. The first circle will be at the same range as old ult's range was (without his W AT LVL 1 of the ultimate and then it will gradually rise to his old range+W at LVL3 and will work just the same: 3-shot nuke. The second circle is his new ultimate. It starts where old range+W ends and works just as his current ultimate. This change will make Xerath more interesting. Now you are offered a choice: I can use my ult to snipe or I can use it to help my entire team in a fight.

That's all I wanted to tell you. Please, read this message, although it's a bit long. You may find some interesting ideas in it.

I feel like there is a number of things they could do to make his ult more interesting right now, maybe something else they could look at is doing more damage the more times you hit the same person with it to really reward people who focus down a squishy in a fight and take the time to aim the thing when they know they can hit it, or maybe make it to where the further away you cast the spell the smaller it's radius is down to it's current radius at maybe around 1500ish range, at level 1 anyway. As it is new his ult is more or less just for cleaning up fights or ganks, assuming you land any of your blasts. I HAVE noticed however if your team is chasing another team down and you ult it either makes it much easier to aim since the enemy is beelining or you can hold the threat over them to make them constantly try to juke it, thus making it easier for your team to catch up to them. Right now I'm just not sure what to think of his ult, it's super fun and has it's ups and downs. As for his E, despite it being a single target skill shot, I think it's SUPER strong, despite being at it's shortest stun when trying to get someone out of your face, it still does it's job, but at a range that 2 second stun is amazingly easy to capitalize on and can single handedly kill an enemy below half health. Just my thoughts on him at the moment.

The new ult can still help in team fights, you just have to be at a distance so you don't get picked off while casting. His other abilities help more teamfighting.
