Vision nerf with Malzahar's Q? (Call of the Void)

Last night I was playing in an ARAM and I decided to use his Q (call of the void) in a brush. It revealed the fog of war, but not the champion in the brush. I didn't see the enemy until face checking the bush. It seems I can only see enemies stealthed in the brush if my Q hits them.

If anyone didn't know, Malzahar's Q revealed the fog of war as well as champions stealthed in a brush. Now it seems after this patch, It will only reveal the enemy if they are hit by the ability.

I don't think it's that big of a deal but it seems like a stealth nerf and it is kinda frustrating since I always used this in favor of warding / face checking a brush for enemies. Can I get a rioter's response on this? Was this part of the vision code changes?
